... there really is a path between the far left and far right. I want her to capitalize on the bunches of people like me. Never considered "structural change" until she came along with her smarts and her plans. I was really ready for the wave to come. I hope it happens next time around.

(6,278 posts)Those pieces are utter nonsense. There is just so much urgency around rooting the Trump disease out of Washington that it's impossible to reach any firm conclusions about whether the kinds of policies Warren and Sanders offered are what Americans want. (By and large, polling - on the issues, divorced from questions of electoral politics - I believe they actually are!)
In the end, there was a rapid convergence to Biden based simply on the assessment of Super Tuesday voters that his nomination is our surest path to ousting Trump. I doubt a majority of Biden voters believed he would make the best President out of our field, much less agreed most with his policy positions. But what I think they did see was someone the party could get behind and who wouldn't be threatening to the fabled "swing voters" in November.
I thought Warren could bring it all together this time, but alas it was not to be. I'm encouraged by the high turnouts we've seen - my biggest worry in November is an enthusiasm gap. There are more of us then there are of them, and we win by having that reflected at the polls.
