Part of me would love for Biden team to make light of their mischaracterization of him

And create this “he’s so square he’s actually cool” vibe.

Like water off a ducks back Biden cool is back.

And use the campaign dollars and talent available to also have a real time fact check/push back.

I watched his St.Louis and Kansas City rallies, and he had a couple of moments where he had to recollect his thoughts and press forward which he did, but I also saw him do a GREAT job engaging with a couple of hecklers/protesters and use it to make fun of Trump rallies but also invite them to come speak with him afterward re: their concerns. Then he moved back into the original train of thought he had been going down.

It is all lies and bullshit. I do believe there is a 2 pronged counter attack to launch for multiple audiences.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Scorch earth nastiness suppress voter turnout. They saw the more people that vote, the more they're not for Bernie.

take it literally and run with it, spinning it as a confession.

You either refute it, or ignore it.

You cannot give an inch with intent to turn it around on them, because they focus on the inch ceded and ignore the turn-around.

I mean the nervous Midwest housewife or some young guy who’s a coal miner that mostly supported Dems and sat it out or voted Trump in 2016.

The difference with Biden and a lot of other politicians is he’s pretty slyly able to pull that stuff off.

I’ll remind you one reason Obama was so successful is he wasn’t afraid to project confidence and bemusement at all of the false charges coming at him from Palin and others

whether it be their local paper, their local TV channels (owned by Sinclair, or just catering their audience), cable news, their Facebook/Twitter feeds, etc. and that is where, imo, the hazard of this maneuver lies. That half-quote will be in the headline, and the remainder of the quip will be substituted by ellipses in the article that follows. Well meaning people will hear a biased partial-presentation of some snark, and many will not ever see or hear the full context because a hell of a lot of Americans do not get deep into the weeds with political news -- they just see the headlines and blurbs or hear a few minutes of radio or TV in passing.

Yes, it is not possible to prevent one's opponents from misrepresenting what one says or does. But there are ways to make it easier or harder for them to do so. IMO, I don't see the zinger being worth what the other side would do with it.

But my brief view of successful and unsuccessful politicians tells me you gotta at least acknowledge it in some way and hopefully turn the tables and mock the opposition effectively.
