Hillary Clinton: Sanders wouldn't be our strongest candidate

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/08/hillary-clinton-bernie-sanders-123772

“I’m not endorsing,” she said before explaining why she thought Biden had broader appeal in what has become basically a two-person race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“I think what Joe’s victories on Super Tuesday showed is that he is building the kind of coalition that I had basically,” she told Zakaria. “It’s a broad-based coalition. I finished, you know, most of the work I needed to do for the nomination on Super Tuesday, and then it kind of lingered on — and I think Joe is on track to doing exactly the same thing — putting together a coalition of voters who are energized.“

-snip-

Clinton also said she hoped that if Sanders doesn’t get the nomination that he and his supporters would back Biden.

“I hope so because his failure and the behavior of a lot of his top aides, and certainly many of his supporters — up to the convention, at the convention, and even up to Election Day was not helpful,“ she said of the 2016 race.

-snip-

This is as close to an endorsement as she can get without it being a formal endorsement. I'm sure she'll wait till Biden has clinched the nomination before endorsing him.

And she's right about Biden's coalition, which is impressive.

Especially compared to Sanders' "young-voter surge" that hasn't materialized.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

He didn't help enough in the general...this probably explains his reduced levels of support this time. He hired Stein supporters for prominent positions in his campaign...don't you think that was divisive and a slap in the face to those who voted for Hillary in the general?

I don't know why people are so upset about staff members' pasts. They are hired to do a job - to support Bernie as a candidate for the Democratic Party.

I get not liking the decision, but I'm surprised you say its still a big issue. For example, I remember when HRC brought in Debbie Wasserman Schultz into her campaign as an honorary campaign chair after being forced to resign for her thumb on the scale approach to leadership in the DNC. I didnt like it, but I got that DWS was hired to do a job and she did it.

we’re going to need to start trying to include Sanders supporters into the coalition. Hopefully Sanders drops out when it becomes mathematically impossible for him to win the race.

I know that a minority won’t vote Dem no matter what but his constituency represents roughly a third of our party. We’re going to need them if we’re to defeat Trump.

primary today, I would vote for:

That's the problem with a movement that clearly defines the world as us vs. them. When the movement fails, there's nowhere for them to go. Why would they want to join an organization that their leader has been telling them for years is corrupt?

The majority of Sanders voters will vote for Democrats in November, but it's no surprise that some of them won't, considering that Sanders' entire worldview is based on non-Sanders-affiliated Dems as being a significant part of the problem.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
