The irony of this coming from BS is incredible. If Senator Warren saw this, she probable did a spit take. BS said "a woman can't win" not two months ago says there is "rampant sexism."
Here's a link to the story if you want to read this CNN puff piece for BS.

(6,847 posts)Pinting out that sexism exists is NOT the same thing as being sexist. We have this figured out about racism, and rightly call out Republicans who try to make us appear racists for pointing out racism. But let a progrogressive acknowledge that sexism exists and is hurting out candidates, boy howdt, that person's a sexist for sure!
Can we please STOP doing this?

(434 posts)Really, the hypocrisy and inconsistency of BS here is amazingly clear. Really, imagine if any other campaign said that a woman couldn't win the presidency.
You might as well say it's OK for other campaigns to attack BS by saying, "America's not ready for a Jewish president," and claim it's not anti-Semitism.
BS has tolerated the BS Bros incredibly sexist attacks on Senator Warren and the other female candidates. The failure of BS to make a meaningful effort to stop this hate speech speaks worlds of who BS really is.
The BS campaign hiring the sexist Philip Agnew speaks worlds about who BS really is.
No true progressive would tolerate this sort of hate speech or a person like Philip Agnew to be associated with their campaign.
No one other candidate in the Democratic Primary has these problems. Only BS does.

(22,912 posts)You are correct that the nature of sexism is such that it can work against Warren or another woman candidate to say this, but Joe Biden can say it, right? No it would not be different. Sanders is correct about calling out rampant sexism and there is nothing hypocritical about him doing so.
Sanders has an excellent legislative record on women's rights over many decades and no one has ever said anything to the contrary. Does it occur to you that he may only saying the ugly truth, and he did not create that truth,an that he has supported many women candidates. But, oh yeah, there was that private conversation with Warren in which it is reported that he said a woman could not defeat Trump this fall. Well I've heard a lot of feminist women in recent weeks looking at what happened to our female candidates this time around acknowledging that a lot of voters were "afraid" to try something "new" with a woman running for president this time rather than playing it safe with another male. Yes that is deplorable state of affairs, but women make up the majority of Democratic voters and they did not stand with our women candidates in large numbers rather than support one of the men this cycle. Are you angry with them?

(22,912 posts)Your OP called it "ironic" that Sanders deplored sexism against female candidates which directly implies that he is OK with sexism against female candidates. It wasn't a discussion about legislative accomplishments, the subject concerned attitudes and opinions regarding sexism in politics and there is nothing ironic about what Sanders expressed in that statement.
I didn't post to this OP here because I wanted to debate the relative pros and cons of Sanders vs. Biden on women's issues, so I have no interest in researching what bills Bernie has or has not initiated. But it is a matter of simple public record that Sanders has always been graded with an "A" by women's advocacy organizations for his legislative scorecard on how he voted on major bills of importance to women specifically.

(11,605 posts)If he didn't think a woman could win, it's because he saw how much sexism Hillary faced in 2016 and female candidates he's supported since then have faced. And unfortunately, he's not the only one who felt that sexism would prevent a woman from winning this year - IMO it's a big part of why Warren didn't do better. Too many people, including many women, were afraid of taking a chance on another woman after Hillary lost. Not saying it's right but it's reality.
