(8,144 posts)expand Medicaid, protect Medicare. A progressive could do no more than that for years, Problem is that those programs would probably be let go and not improve under Bernie.

Ok, but lets see how the kid feels when hes of legal voting age. When I was 12 I thought President Ronald Reagan was the greatest thing that ever happened to America... because my dad was a republican. I learned to think for myself in college. Its great to see kids involved, but there are so many examples of them changing views as they grow older that it kind of defeats the purpose. I know of quite a few young republicans who didnt stay that way, so I dont put a lot of weight into it.
It reminds me of that slightly creepy video of the kids who sang Obama praises back in 2008. I loved Obama myself, but I am also fully aware as they mature, kids develop their own ideas other than what is trendy or what their parents believe. They can reach it by high school age, or college like me. Some never change. Its always fluid.
