Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumAnyone listening to Joe on Lawrence? He's sounding excellent. Don't know where dementia talk
is coming from. Or I guess I do. It's just negative campaigning on the other side. He is sounding really good on every single question. A voice of reason; calm, thoughtful, resourceful, has a good handle on things. Somebody you could feel safe with as POTUS. Yet still very engaging and inspiring. A very effective candidate.

(53,795 posts)Haha! Lighten up.
I only mean it's on each of us to make the Democratic ticket and inviting place for everyone who opposes Trump. Even--no, especially--the Sanders supporters who believe there needs to be fundamental reform and healthcare, environmental policy, and campaign finance.
if they're not all well-mannered, they're absolutely sincere in their beliefs, and the last thing we want to do is create a culture of exclusion within our party.

(53,795 posts)People supporting Sanders are not monolithic. Are there bad actors? Yes of course. But the more we make this a sharp divide between liberals and progressives, the harder it will be to unify the party in the fall.
Sanders has a wide reach for the broad sections of the electorate. We want them inside the tent. All Democrats have a role to play in making this an open, literally a liberal, culture in the party.
You can smack down the ugly smear campaigns against Biden without alienating or needlessly antagonizing Sanders supporters.

(13,650 posts)most Sanders supporters are not like the toxic minority on social media. I know several of them, including my mother. All good Democrats intending to vote for Biden in the general. The big problem, though, is Sanders has official surrogates acting the same way. He needs to rein them in.

And, as no is arguing that a wide reach is unnecessary, you're simply countering a point no one is making.
If any Democratic voter votes against the Democratic nominee this fall, it's on them and them alone-- blaming their failure on an internet post or a meme is nothing more than a passive-aggressive excuse designed to place the blame elsewhere.
Reality check, indeed.

(1,089 posts)When he's on he's almost unhittable and will hurl a complete game shutout. But when it's not his day he'll get tagged left and right and won't make it to the 3rd inning.
Been following Joe pretty close for around 15 years now...no doubt in my mind he's lost half a step. But even if he had dementia, Alzheimer's, senility and a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit he's still way better than the total ignoramus in the WH right now. Joe has forgotten more than the Imbecile-in-Chief ever knew...although I realize that ain't saying much.
Joe's gonna make some gaffes along the way...you can bet your season tickets on that. Just pray they're only minor in nature which many folks have come to accept and that he stays away from any devastatingly bad ones that might be irrecoverable.
Can you tell it's getting close to Opening Day? Woohoo...baseball's almost back!

(1,089 posts)Considering who 3 of the last 4 GOP Presidents were (Ronnie, Dubya & Trumptard) if Joe was wheelchair-bound, incoherent and slobbering over himself he'd probably get a lot more Republican votes, because they sure do seem to love mental midgets. The only half-decent one of the bunch was Poppy Bush and they voted his ass outta there because he dared to raise their taxes a coupla bucks out of necessity!
Reagan wasn't that bad at the beginning but toward the end I don't think he knew where the hell he was much of the time.

I'll be real glad when this primary is over. Honestly, I've watched very little of the debates because I really don't enjoy watching good Democrats pound away at each other. Would much rather watch one rip Trump apart. If it happens to be Bernie I'll be cheering for every gut punch he delivers as much as I would Joe.

(48,789 posts)Trumpistan endlessly share some videos where Biden flubs some speech lines, as any politician does, though none so many as tRump.
It plays into their narrative of "sleepy Joe".
The first debate, if tRump is still in the campaign at that point, should be arranged to show the alert knowledgeable Biden smack down tRump on that issue, directly. Do it in such a way that when any trumpista or tRump goes there, everyone will be reminded that Biden is the only competent and the only adult running.

(1,089 posts)Hillary once claimed she came under sniper fire in Bosnia. Brian Williams lost his anchor job at NBC for a bogus story of being shot at while in a helicopter or something like that. I doubt either of them have any issues. For all I know maybe they weren't lying/exaggerating and really believed it because they've seen and done a lot so maybe they some accidentally "absorbed" it from somebody else.
Just as long as it doesn't become a repetitive habit. Then either they're liars or something really is starting to go.

"My boy is brain dead and has dementia"
