I don't think we can count on Sanders supporters voting for Joe in the GE

Looks like a rerun of 2016, where 12% of Sanders voters voted for tRump.

Voter registration and GOTV efforts are our best shot to offset what seems to be coming.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

The people who stayed home for Hillary, most Indys and the Republicans who hate Тяцмр will vote for Joe and make up for the busters. Turnout is high, it’ll be higher in November. People are sick of this idiot and will do what it takes to get rid of him. I’d love to have all the Sanders people do what is right and necessary but we don’t need them all to win the way they would need all of us to win.

It’s mind boggling that anyone who considers themselves left, liberal or progressive would rather see this piece of shit remain President and truly crush everything they supposedly stand for rather than move toward the things they want in an incremental way. It’s just stupid.

Not much has changed since 2016 as far as attitudes go, and we can expect a similar response when Biden wins the nomination. Some simply won't accept that Sanders isn't the nominee. It really shouldn't be surprising, considering the rhetoric from Sanders and his staff about the corrupt Democratic establishment, blah, blah.

As you noted, we just need to deal with it and work on new voters and getting out the vote. Based on turnout in the primaries for Joe, so far so good.

The virulent ones are the ones on Twitter/social media, but remember, that's a small subset of the overall voting population. In the end, most know that this election is critical - and most probably don't care, as long as we get Trump out. Some won't, but I suspect their numbers will be more than made up by never trumpers and indies who actually care about the country

9. Sanders has cultivated a militant base, but not all his supporters

are members of this militant base.

For instance, I was a fervent Bernie supporter in 2016 because I genuinely felt his platforms would materially improve the lives of most Americans including me and my family. And when he lost I had bitter feelings because of what came to light about the DNC under Wasserman-Schultz. Honestly, I was disgusted.

However, I voted for Clinton.

Then was dismayed about the behavior of some of Bernie's more militant supporters, because it seemed to me they were being excessively purist - unless Clinton did a, b and c, they were going to vote for Stein. And some did.

That is why I supported Warren this time around. She is a genuinely good person who cares about Americans and would have been a wonderful nominee and president. Plus, again, her platforms would materially improve the lives of most Americans. I got tired, you know, of being told why I can't have healthcare when the real truth is I can't because politicians are being held hostage by the health insurance lobby and big pharma, who decidedly don't want any public option. And that stinks to high heaven, as well as being immoral as hell. Profit over people was, is, and always will be an affront to any common decency.

Still, now that Warren is out, I have, correctly I believe, concluded that Biden has the better chance of beating Trump, and actually would be a better, more balanced president than Bernie. So I will be supporting Biden through the nomination and general election and hopefully into the White House.

Now, I know what I just wrote here is anecdotal at best, but I don't see how anyone who dislikes Trump as much as Democrats claim to could vote for him if their guy (Bernie) isn't the nominee. That is just stupid.

Long post, so I'll cut it short. I don't think that many Bernie people will jump ship if he loses. He's not that popular this time around.

primary today, I would vote for:

It’s like you WANT to believe this nonsense to stoke your vendetta against Bernie and his supporters.

I support Bernie. Just about everyone I know is a Bernie supporter. There is one - ONE - dumbass I know who is trying to talk crap about Biden. Everyone else gets it, that job #1 is to dump Trump, and then we can get back to the regularly scheduled infighting over policy.

I will vote for Joe and this is against one of my most dearly held values. He actively supported the War on Iraq and pushed out dissenting voices. He voted for it. My brother in law died in Vietnam for a lie. As soon as The War on iraq was brewing my husband I started working in the Peace Movement and we organized huge demonstrations and spent 12 years in the interfaith Peace Movements. I despise what Joe did and it hurt me but I have to help our hurting country. I hope Joe has learned his lesson about War, it is Hell.

There is a small sub-set of Bernie or Bust people in Sanders' supporters but I believe the overwhelming majority of them are "blue no matter who". Yes we need voter registration and GOTV efforts- but it is because we not only need to account for this small group of people but also expected foreign ratf##king

And remember, part of Sanders strength is supposed to be his appeal to people outside the Dem base. To the extent that some of his support comes from people who often don't vote Dem, it's that much less surprising that some of them, well, won't vote Dem. The flip side of that same coin is that, in order to win in November, we do need to appeal to a bunch of people who don't necessarily always automatically vote Dem.

And many Sanders supporters who would vote for him in the GE just aren't interested in a regular Democrat.

But then again, Biden supporters should be wary about intentionally alienating Bernie supporters.
