And we are moving into the phase where criticizing Biden's many bad decisions over his electoral career will be off the table. I do hope Biden picks someone significantly to the left of him for the Vice Presidential nomination.

6. Can anyone remember a prominent candidate not making some statement?

I would imagine that he needs to make some statement today. I doubt the results were not one of several predictable results for which they should have crafted a response. Even the SC response that "you can't win all the states" would have sufficed.

To me, this signals that his campaign is possibly trying to identify what went wrong and whether it is correctable. In particular, in Michigan, he went all in. He was there all over the state and did not win a single county - not even one with multiple large universities. Even though we have never contributed to Bernie, both my husband and I have received emails to both of our accounts. The one last night argued people contributing last night - speaking of how he would do better later at night (true) and he needed the money to compete with Biden, who he implied had more money than he did in yesterday's contests. (Ignoring that Biden won SuperTuesday being outspent something like thirty to one.

I know desperate calls for money do not mean a candidate is staying in. I remember many Edwards people denying reality in 2008 citing that he was still raising money - seemingly minutes before withdrawing. The negative twitter stuff by people identified with his campaign (not random supporters) suggest they are recommending fighting on. It is true that Biden does not have half the pledged delegates yet and Sanders is not (in the baseball sense, not a probability sense) eliminated.

However, yesterday was different. Joe Biden's soft spoken speech showed someone who could lead the country through times of trouble. Listening to the media - they are now speaking of the potential impact of the debate - arguing that people "decide late". In fact, this year many people did decide late, but that was when there was a wealth of candidates. They are also ignoring that the norm in all years is that deciding late is always more true in the early states.

I think the reason the Sanders people are so focused on the debate is because they see Sanders as "better" and because it is the only thing they have to hold onto to think the race will shift again. IMO, they go in with a huge disadvantage. Biden yesterday seemed to have grown into the role of the party leader - even before he is the nominee. All he has to do in the debate is to convey that same calm, focused persona. If he can keep his calm, Sanders will look terrible if he is simply repeating all the attacks that have not worked. I wonder if Biden, given his VP experience will speak of the strong Democratic team who he can call on to help him right our ship of state.

Who does not want calm, logic, science, organization etc given what we are now facing?

11. I read this morning that they are likely to really go after Joe in the debate

on Friday. I live in Florida, I will insure that all my extended family vote for Biden. If the Sanders camp does the agressive debate, Florida must be the first state on next Tursday that slams the door in his face.
