Colleges are closing en masse and "going online" for the rest of the year.

That's a happy prospect in the short term but it's starting to look like a panic. And the long term effects are going to be messy.

15. Colleges aren't the only schools taking a break..

I was late to the pandemic crisis.. went out today to get supplies and the shelves were almost empty. I first was going to order them online because I was getting low and discovered they were out of what I had ordered before, and now were offering similar products at Sky High prices.. I finally put it all together.. that I better get my shite together!..

I was so grateful for Biden's speech today and those I talked to about it when I was out and about were, too.

I just heard a clip of Joe's speech on NPR and it really shows how completely unfit the Trump admin is. Obama-Biden were so good at this stuff and Trump is basically sweeping it under the carpet.

My partner just got back from dropping another 500 bucks on supplies...and that's after spending a lot more than that the last week or so. But this whole thing is really scaring her so if it provides her a little peace of mind then that alone serves a useful purpose. None of the stuff she's getting will likely go to waste anyway, so I look at it like we're just buying what we'll eventually need in the future anyway and given the uncertainty and unknown it's better to have it on hand and not need it than the other way around. Many sources recommend that you have enough supplies to last anywhere from a few days to a week to a month or more...including government websites.

But I'll bet the hard-core survivalists are having wet dreams lately. They live for this.

21. Shopping

Like I said, she's gone out shopping several times over the last week or so. She said it hasn't really been too bad so far with only some sporadic shortages of random goods...which may well have been to stocking delays rather than them being sold out. But her son told me when they got back tonight that Sam's Club was a little crazy, so maybe latecomers like Cha are starting to get a little more serious and get out en masse.

No doubt Trump will blame it all on Biden's speech today..."if Sleepy Joe hadn't properly informed Americans about the situation then none of this would have been a problem".

Yeah, and if we didn't do any testing then there would be ZERO documented cases of CV.
