And his lead continues to grow.

Bernie seems to be under the impression that 2020 is similar to 2016. It's not. Biden is dominating in ways Hillary couldn't head-to-head vs Sanders.

4. Yes. I think that's a big part of it.

I also think another big part is that Biden is clearly more well liked than Hillary (for various reasons), so, there's not as much a need for a second option. Sanders benefited greatly for the anti-Clinton hate that existed in 2016. He certainly has a movement, don't get me wrong, but it's clear that movement is only 30% of the Democratic Party at best. IN a head-to-head against a popular Democrat like Biden, who is offering a reassuring voice in uncertain times, it's much easier for the party to coalesce around him than Hillary.

The difference, of course, is that Biden kept saying, "wait until South Carolina...". He knew he had a wall.

Had Biden not won SC, or even if he had a very narrow victory, he might have dropped out anyway.

So, here's my question to you:

We knew SC was Biden's firewall - the state he was going to get things turned around (or not).

What's Bernie's?

Where's Bernie going to turn this around and actually make up the ground he's lost in delegate math?

If there isn't a state he can point to for that moment, then he doesn't have a viable pathway to the nomination and his playing this liek 2016 will only hurt the Democratic Party.

I agree. On this day in 2016, Sanders was beating Trump by way more than Hillary was, today Biden beats Trump by slightly more than Sanders does, negating what was to me was Sanders' biggest 2016 advantage.

Hillary ended up with around 1,000 more delegates than Sanders.

She dominated Sanders as well, as has Biden now that the field has winnowed. Unfortunately, just like his being dominated in 2016 didn't force him out, I imagine that Sanders being dominated in 2020 won't force him out either.
