by picking up groceries or whatever. But drop it off outside their door if you do so. Then step away and call them to open the door and pick it up. This is what delivery services are instructing.

Many of us could be carrying the virus on our person without realizing it or showing any symptoms, so best to avoid direct contact with vulnerable people as much as possible even with the best of intentions. Call Grandma on the phone instead of visiting the nursing home.
