Harris's former press secretary: Biden's announcement he'll pick female VP was tactically brilliant

From a tactical perspective, Biden's decision to announce that he'll pick a woman running mate is also brilliant. In a crowded news environment, with coronavirus dominating wall-to-wall, that's the kind of announcement that demands tons of attention out of this late-stage debate.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

It is a risky and short term Republican opportunity, but Charlie Baker is not going to pick a Trump stooge and may even respect the political will and temperature today by nominating a Democrat. He would commit political hari-kari if he nominated a teaparty Republican for a short term position.

Harris' replacement would certainly be a Dem, so the seat is safe.

And as presiding officer in the Senate, Harris would still be there, as would Warren.

The question would be, would either of these women bring enough voters to the Dems to swing states away from tRump and kick his fat a** out, or would someone else (eg, Klobuchar) bring more?

Much to consider!

Congresswoman Val Demmings has a high profile stage right now in Congress, a great personal back story, an impressive professional background, preacher-esque oratory skills, a reputation for a sharp, no-nonsense, strategic and tactical intellect, a lifelong commitment to law and order and enormous popularity back home.

Oh. And she’s black. And a woman.

is like a giant exercise in game theory.

Except this ain't no academic problem in an ivory tower classroom somewhere...it's a figurative and literal matter of life and death.

Joe's gonna have to put some very smart guys on his team to sit down and figure all this shit out when the time comes. I have faith they'll come up with the best choice possible and will support whoever they end up choosing. It may not even matter as much as we think it might since there are many good choices out there and we might be splitting hairs. But with no sports on TV and nobody going out any more it's at least one way to help pass the time.
