States Delaying Primaries May Face Delegate Penalty

A new memo from the Democratic National Committee panel that handles delegate selection for the presidential nomination warns that state parties that hastily change the ‘first determining step’ of their own process could be subject to penalties – including a 50% reduction in delegates. The memo also says the panel is looking at ways to adjust how delegates are selected in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Repukes, not so much.

Hillary lost delegates in 2016 because of the shitheads running Florida at the time.

But, more importantly .. by and large people aren't listening anymore. I'm sure they'll be back again in 2024 (hopefully with a new candidate) .. but most of us have moved on.

of the DNC penalizing states where Dems had no say-so in postponing primaries or not.

Seems to me that would open up the possibility of Republican Governors possibly manipulating the Democratic primaries...not that it would EVER occur to them to do so. I'm likely worrying about nothing...they're probably much too busy drawing up new gerrymandered maps and purging voter registration rolls as their numbers continue to dwindle.

Edit: on reflection, I think it was I that misunderstood the "state parties" terminology. Still .. I can't find the rationale in the DMC threatening sanction against action that the part officials have no control over. I sincerely doubt that could be their intent.

More in the context of potentially cancelled primaries than postponed ones. If they have them eventually, it's harder to make a case for reducing delegates. But, if they are forced to be cancelled in order to have a reasonable timeline to election day, it makes sense to change the delegate allotment.
