It's being done in Europe. A lot of non-political economists recommend it as a quick and partial fix.

The best thing to do is start a national movement for people to give all or part of it - IF they can afford to - to the Dem Party or any national, state or local Dem candidate.

I signed over my 2008 check when Bush was presiding over the Great Recession to the State Democratic Party. There was even a story in our local newspaper based on a press release from the party talking about getting these donations.

for his reelection chances. People all over the country will be broke, companies will be in ruins. A lousy $1,000 isn't going to be remembered past checking it at the bank.
