Joe Biden's Campaign Was Cash Poor. He Seized Control of the Nomination Anyway.

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has taken command of the Democratic primary for president despite running on a shoestring budget in a contest where Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont raised more money in February alone, $47.6 million, than Mr. Biden had spent in his previous five months combined, new federal records show.

The latest disclosures from the Federal Election Commission reveal in stark detail just how badly Mr. Biden was outspent by his rivals before a decisive victory in South Carolina on Feb. 29 turned around his candidacy. Days later, Mr. Biden routed Mr. Sanders and others on Super Tuesday, and he has since built a nearly insurmountable delegate lead.

“These races tend to have a moment where the thing just breaks,” said Steve Schale, a Democratic strategist and executive director of a pro-Biden super PAC.

Outgunned on the airwaves and out-organized on the ground, Mr. Biden’s campaign succeeded in large part because of the overwhelming focus of Democratic voters on beating President Trump and the firm belief among many that Mr. Biden would be the party’s strongest challenger.

20. I'm sure no one gives a shit what I think, and rightly so. But here it is, anyway...

Warning, I am going to be critical of the "democratic establishment"...

Look at our field of candidates. An INCREDIBLE array of smart, talented, innovative people. ALL would be a damn sight better than the turd we have.

Of all our candidates, Biden was the one, true centrist. Some of the others had central leaning tendencies, but their ideas also had major progressive influences.

What really set Biden apart was that he was the last "establishment" candidate.

The "establishment" is why we are where we are. With few exceptions they have been pulling the strings for decades. Their idea of success was to become even more centrist, trying to appeal to more republicans. They gave up on our core principles, just to try to stay in power.

The democratic establishment was DESPERATE to maintain control, and with Biden it wasn't happening. Donors were not giving the funding. It was a wait and see, and he was practically broke.

I was a Mayor Pete guy as soon as he announced, in spite of his extremely low chances. I knew it, but he was making history. I was taken completely by surprise when he started doing better than expected. I was elated, but still saw the reality of his low chances, even after Iowa and New Hampshire. I KNEW the AA community at large, would never get behind him.

I was a Warren fan, a Harris fan, a Booker fan, but sent what little I could afford, to Pete.

At the bottom of my list was Tulsi. One step up was Bernie, another step up was Biden.

The problem with American politics is that the candidate has to "light the fires" of the voting populace.

Biden had name recognition and Obama's coattails. But he was NOT "lighting the fires", which is why the donations were low. He polled high due to name recognition, but the people's passions lay elsewhere.

That was until South Carolina, when the AA voters weighed in. THEY changed the game. He owes them, big time. And that is not a bad thing. They have become the core of the core of the democratic party. If we want to play in the game, we have to pay attention to them.

Since it is obvious he will be our nominee, he has my 110% support. ANYTHING to flush the turd.

But remember, he is the last, desperate attempt by the establishment to stay even slightly relevant.

The democratic establishment was saved by the AA community in South Carolina, and the AA community will save this country, come November.

But also understand that the democratic establishment has their goals. We are already being conditioned to accept that there will be no accountability for the shredding of our constitution, and the debasement of the office of the U.S. Presidency.

If we are lucky Trump (one of the few times I will use his name) will do three things.

He will lose the election in a blue tsunami that will surprise everyone.
He will take the republican party down with him.
He will completely eliminate any real pressure by ANY religion on our national discourse.

That is my hope and dream.

But also realize the history of the democratic establishment. We have, time and time again, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Literally. We have had absolute control over all three branches of the government, and due to our unwillingness to work together, lost it all within a couple of elections.

IF Biden wins, but decides that "for the good of the country" we must "put it all behind us" resulting in absolutely NO ACCOUNTABILITY for the CUMULATIVE disastrous administrations of Nixon and George W Bush, and the absolute CLUSTERFUCK of the Trump administration, within two more elections they will have taken it all back. Because we let them.

To me that is untenable. And the democratic party will be done. You can stick a fork in it.

And if the democratic party can't step up and DO WHAT IS RIGHT, not what is expedient, then this country will be done.
