Biden seeks to offer a possible presidency preview

As the coronavirus upends the 2020 race, Biden seeks to offer a possible presidency preview

Former Vice President former vice president Joe Biden appeared well on his way to the Democratic presidential nomination in the weeks before the COVID-19 virus essentially ground the party’s nominating contest to a screeching halt for the next few weeks amid postponed primaries.

However, the pandemic has also presented an opportunity for the former vice president to demonstrate the type of leadership he’s promised he would provide to voters for nearly a year with actions that preview a possible President Biden.

“I find myself, literally on the phone with my key advisors, medical advisors and economic advisors literally four or five hours a day, going through detailed memoranda on what we should be doing,” Biden said on a call for press Friday afternoon.

“My whole focus has basically been, how we deal with this crisis. And quite frankly, thus far has been less about how we campaign or make stark differences between the president and I. I think some are just self-evident, but the bottom line is that...my whole rationality here is to make sure that we focus on the urgent need of the American people,” Biden continued.

Biden’s campaign is now navigating how to take the leadership mantle on amid the global crisis, without the power and gravitas that comes with the title of ‘Commander in Chief -- a fact Trump’s election campaign is happy to point out.

Now we will see and hear what a real president is like!

Team Trump is going to bankrupt us with their bungled bread and circuses and that's if we survive the virus.

Great cartoon!

This present illegal administration and illegal asswipe occupying the WH has no "concern" for the USA nor her people.

Compassion, legitimate concern, caring, sharing, hope, love, commanding leadership . . . this is what I envision of VP Biden.

I look forward.

is making good use of this primary season hiatus to work on the pandemic problem and assemble some experts to advise him on what we SHOULD be doing, even if he is totally powerless at this point to actually implement anything. The first-round of this damn virus will hopefully subside at some point but it's not going away for good and may again become a threat in the future...possibly again this winter from what I've heard and read.

OTOH, if you believe Doctor Trump, MD then Joe's just wasting his time because this will all be gone in 10 days when April rolls around.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

When these numbers are a lot higher come April 1st Trump can start off his new morning bullshit session that day with a big "April Fools...gotcha!".

What a prankster, that Donald.

"American Exceptionalism" or not. Sometimes I do and other times I think it's pure bunk. But I do know that if there really is such a thing one of the biggest characteristics that sets us apart from the rest of the world is our "gallows humor"...the ability for the American people to look adversity and yes, sometimes even death in the face and laugh at it.

I've read a lot of history during my life, and a good deal of it was military history. So many times I've come across examples of US soldiers being in deep shit and dire straits...and by that I mean "there's a real good chance we'll all be dead soon". And yet it never ceases to amaze me how even under such bleak circumstances they were still able to crack wise or make a dark joke and all have a good laugh over it.

Whenever I see such an example I think to myself..."damn, now THAT'S what it means to be American!".

To assemble a team of responders and actually help - get medical equipment to the hospitals and first responders, for instance. Any private citizen can do that but he is in the delicious position right now of having the power to pull it off. And nothing would be better than watching Trump implode over it. It would drive Trump bananas.

Her expertise and experience would serve this country and the American people well, and restore a sense of stability, because trump and pence can't even stop lying, and are the ones who put us in this crisis situation to begin with.

remember in Sept, '08 when the financial crisis emerged? McCain, who badly needed to shake up the election, said he was suspending his campaign to go back to DC to work on the crisis. But Obama saw through that & said that a president would have to deal with more than one issue at a time. He said he would be at the debate whether McCain was there or not!

This reminds me of that. We have an immature senior in the white house trying to be a leader but failing miserably! Then on the other side we have an experienced, proven leader who is more than willing to show voters what a real leader does!!

I think their concerns need to be addressed. We need their votes in November, and they have some unique concerns, like healthcare and college debt, that should be a part of the Democratic platform.

I would like to see Biden reach out to Sanders to collaborate on some policies. And I would hope Biden would reach out to millennials by forming a permanent advisory council to hear their concerns and gain suggestions for how policy changes could address them.
