Biden says he wants Sanders to be part of his presidential 'journey'

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday praised Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for having a “significant” influence on American politics and said he hopes his primary rival will play a role in his own campaign if should he be the Democratic nominee.

Speaking on NBC’s “The Today Show,” Biden reiterated his commitment to picking a woman as his vice presidential running mate. But he said he that he’s spoken to Sanders recently and that he wants him to be a part of his presidential “journey.”

“Bernie has an incredible following,” Biden said. “He’s maybe one of a half dozen people in American history who may not be the nominee but has had an impact on American politics in a significant way, in a positive way."

"If I'm the nominee I can tell you one thing — I would very much want Bernie Sanders to be part of the journey. Not as a vice presidential nominee, but just in engaging in all the things that he's worked so hard to do, many of which I agree with."

If trump is the loser, how will he react, vindictive petty little putz that he has proved himself to be.

Probably will try to trash the place. Loot the White House of some choice historical antiques. enact all kinds of poison pills and other things to trip up and screw over the Democrat who replaces him (presumably Biden), tie the election results up in court, and bribe Gorsuch and Kavanaugh to rule in his favor to have the results nullified, AND worse.

What strings will he try to pull?

What will he try to block - maybe permanently?

What get-arounds will he attempt?

And how sneaky will all that be? 'Cuz he's a sneaky little shit, too, and he doesn't heed any limits or guardrails on his "power". He's already declared that the job he cheated his way into in 2016 allows him to do whatever he wants. And NOBODY is attempting to rein him in (beyond the Dems impeaching his ass). His toadies on the other side of the aisle didn't do squat to stop him when they had the chance, and unfortunately can't be relied upon even to start thinking about such things.

He did a great job back in 2008 when he had to debate Palin while walking on eggshells so it didn't look like he was beating up a defenseless woman.

What Joe just did today was the equivalent of telling your girlfriend "I believe you have a very bright future and I think one of the guys on my softball team would be the perfect man for you to share it with".

Now let's see if Bernie takes him up on his offer or slaps him in the face.

We already know that around 15% of Sanders supporters are not going to vote for Biden. If we are lucky, they will just stay home. Otherwise, as in 2016, they will vote for Trump. Both Trump and Sanders want to destroy the "establishment."

But if Sanders' ideas take front and center place in the "journey" we can forget about those loyal Republicans who lament the shape that their beloved party is now: Yes, Max Root, and David Brooks, and Brett Stephens, and Nicole Wallace and others.

And we will need them. We will need them more that the Sanders supporters who constantly make demands as if they won.

I hope that Biden is not going to bend so much backward that he will collapse.

So Not "Condescending". So Many people Get That.. Even BS' own staff and surrogates..

Beyond Shakir and Jayapal, longtime strategist Jeff Weaver has privately made a case that exiting the race more quickly and on good terms with Biden would give Sanders more leverage in the long run, according to one of the people; the other said Weaver has used a light touch in presenting his case. Weaver and Jayapal did not return calls and messages seeking comment. Shakir declined to comment.
