People splash water and play pranks on each other. Also, an excuse to drink and party. The Solidarity Day Dr street sign is in honor of Lech Walesa. The west side of South Bend was originally a big Polish enclave. The drinking and partying goes on pretty much all over Mishawaka and South Bend but primarily in South Bend.

that we/my husband had DEM friends in South Bend (his college roommate,) and they referred to Mishawaka often. We visited them in SB once. They're all dead now, but not the roommate's daughter (who teaches at St. Mary's) and his son who lives in CA now. (They were/are of Irish descent, NOT Polish!)

Thanks for the memory!

HOPE he can. (I'm not contributing to ANYONE at this point, as I tend to JINX those I support, and could hardly afford to do justice to those I like AND help my daughters and grands!!!)
