Bernie Sanders tours Los Angeles' Skid Row & vows to build millions of affordable housing units as President. He says that building will help create millions of union jobs.
More than 500,000 Americans are currently experiencing homelessness.
“A great nation does not allow 500,000 people to sleep out on the streets or in emergency shelters," he said.
Sanders visited permanent housing programs and a sober living facility.
"This is humane, this is cost effective and programs like this can become a model for the country," he said.
I asked him about his human reaction to seeing all the poverty at Skid Row?
"It is painful. It is painful to know that we are the wealthiest country on Earth and there are people a few feet away from us here who are sleeping out on the street."
