Michigan man steals 33 cases of Whoppers

Warren Police are investigating how at least 33 cases of Whoppers burgers disappeared from the back of a delivery truck on Friday morning, according to the city’s mayor, Jim Fouts.

“It’s a whopper of a theft,” Fouts said dryly. He added of the thieves: “They probably consumed the evidence.”

The incident began on Thursday night, when a semi-truck driver tried to deliver several cases of the famous burgers to a Reinhart food distribution center located on Ryan Road and East 10 Mile.

For reasons that aren’t clear, the driver had to wait several hours to make his delivery. He fell asleep in the truck and awoke at 2 a.m. — only to notice that his truck’s shipping seal was broken and a few boxes of Whoppers were missing.

From the moment Hillary Clinton announced her campaign for President of the United States of America, I have been 100% for her. I think it’s important to state however, that I am not an uneducated member of the electorate. I take choosing a presidential candidate, and eventual president very seriously and am both methodical and calculated in my decision making process. Luckily, the Democratic Party produced several candidates with ideas for real progress, ready to engage in a debate of substance and vision for the future of America.

That being said, I have broken rank with my white millennial male brethren known as the #BernieBros to back the only electable candidate with a clear plan for addressing a wide array of issues facing Americans. While I can appreciate Senator Bernie Sanders service and the issues that he raises, he fails to grasp that as president your job is to focus on many problems and not just one. Sanders’ request for a revolution is falling on the deaf ears of this 25 year old who is concerned about more than “big banks” and Wall Street.

Hillary Clinton is anything but a one issue candidate. From day one, Clinton jumped into the 2016 presidential race with policy idea after policy idea, stopping at nothing to make sure that her plans for being the true champion for Americans was known. So why do I support Hillary Clinton to be our next commander in chief? Here are just a few of the almost 30 positions outlined on her website that speak to me as a voter.

2014 video shows man urinating on Rice Krispies Treats conveyor belt

An investigation is underway into a 2014 video that just surfaced appearing to show a worker at a Kellogg plant urinating onto a food production line used to make Rice Krispies Treats, granola clusters and a few other puffed rice treats, Kris Charles, Kellogg Company spokesperson said.

In a prepared statement Monday morning, the company said:

"Kellogg takes this situation very seriously and we were shocked and deeply disappointed by this video that we just learned of Friday, March 11.

"We immediately alerted law enforcement authorities and regulators. A criminal investigation is underway as well as a thorough internal investigation.

Pope to wash refugees' feet on Holy Thursday

In a powerful symbolic gesture that is sure to resonate across the globe from Europe to the United States and Australia, Pope Francis will wash the feet of 12 refugees on Holy Thursday in Rome.

He will do so on March 24, at a center that assists migrants in the city. The Vatican has not yet disclosed the venue.

The breaking news comes at a time when many politicians in Europe, the United States and elsewhere are calling for the closing of the doors of their countries to refugees and migrants. Several governments in Europe, including Austria, Poland, Hungary and Macedonia, have or are in process of closing their frontiers or building barriers or walls to what they perceive as a tidal wave of migrants and refugees from war-torn Syria, Iraq and other countries of the Middle East and Africa. The question of immigration is at the center of political debate in the United States and Australia, as well as in Germany, where yesterday many voters cast their ballot against the more humanitarian approach of Chancellor Angela Merkel. It is an issue that is not going to disappear as long as the wars continue and dire poverty forces people to leave their homes and the countries of their birth.

Pope Francis believes in preaching the Gospel by deeds as much as by words, and he has emphasized this especially during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. His symbolic gestures this year, as in the past, come from the depth of his heart and are aimed at highlighting particular areas of great concern for humanity, in the hope of awakening consciences.

Woman gives cop false name - that of her sister who had an arrest warrant

She tried to evade arrest for driving with a suspended license, but what Bobbi Jean Latty didn't know was that the false name she gave was of a person who had a warrant out for her arrest.

And that person was Latty's own sister.

This is the strange story out of the Mason County Sheriff's Office that began when Latty was stopped just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after a deputy discovered her vehicle had an improper license plate, said Sheriff Kim C. Cole.

Latty, 36, of Bitely was driving a Honda CRV in front of the deputy, who decided to check on her plate and discovered it belonged on a Chrysler, Cole said. When the deputy pulled her over, Latty didn't have proof of insurance for the vehicle or registration, Cole said.

When will Bernie release the transcripts of his Bank of America speech?

Bernie Sanders, sinking in the democratic primary race and now 1.7 million popular votes behind rival Hillary Clinton, has settled on his last ditch effort at getting back into the game. He’s insinuating that Clinton can’t be trusted and has something to hide because she gave speeches sponsored by Wall Street entities like Goldman Sachs. “Release the transcripts,” he now routinely demands. One little problem: Sanders just gave a speech sponsored by Bank of America and Liberty Mutual. Will he release his transcripts?

The Bernie Sanders speech took place on Friday, February 5th of this year in New Hampshire. The “Program Sponsors” for the event, which is fancy way of listing the corporate entities that forked over money, includes no less than five of the multibillion dollar corporate entities that Sanders routinely blames for all the nation’s ills while insisting he hasn’t taken any money from.

The list includes Bank of America, Comcast, Fidelity Investments, Liberty Mutual, and Lincoln Financial Group. It’s a who’s who of the Wall Street entities that Bernie routinely professes to hate. They’re the same kind of entities to whom Clinton was speaking while she held no political office – but Bernie gave his corporate speech while he was a sitting Senator. His speech to these groups was almost certainly harmless, but as long as he’s accusing his opponents of having something to hide by giving similar speeches, he’d do well to release the transcripts of his own speeches.

Koch-backed "Freedom Partners" puts out pro-Sanders video on Ex/Im Bank

Bernie Sanders is the star in a new video put out by Freedom Partners, the center of the Koch political empire.

"Bernie Sanders is right about the Export-Import Bank," declares the video.

Sanders ought to check his facts. The Export-Import Bank actually runs at a profit, and returned about $650 million to the U.S. Treasury in 2014. And the money to underwrite Boeing jet sales filters down to a myriad of small subcontractors.

In any event, remarks by the self-described democratic socialism are being celebrated by Freedom Partners.
