The major takeaway from this shutdown should be that so many working people do not have enough saved for a month's rent or mortgage payment. The shutdown has exposed this country's dirty little secret and it is a time bomb.

Many probably have direct deposit of their paychecks and have monthly bills automatically deducted from their checking accounts. So in addition to being unable to pay their bills, they are going to face overdraft penalties adding insult to injury.

One asked me if I watched the speech, I said no, I just couldn't, I listened to it. She then told me that Trump was a horrible man, as if I would be shocked by that concept. The other remarked about Trump's appearance, his staring into the camera and reading from the teleprompter and, as she put it, breathing heavy. Both told me that they thought the country was in real danger from this man, as if this would be a new concept to me.

I think I should get some kind of an award for not reminding them who they voted for in 2016, don't you?

So, someone must have clued Trump in about this and the years and dollars it will take to acquire all the land needed for his precious wall. I suspect that is one of the reasons he is talking about a "State of Emergency" at the southern border.

The fact is that he knows, his people know and Congress knows that this wall thing is a farce. But they'll take peoples' land, give them shit in compensation, and never build the damn wall.

I'm waiting for the Trump supporting land owners in the path of this wall wake up and realize that they're screwed if Trump gets his way.
