Clinton no longer leading 2:1 in SC primary

I posted a week ago about Clinton opening better than a 2:1 lead in South Carolina, which is the 3rd primary after Iowa and NH. New CNN poll has changed those numbers:

Among Democrats, Hillary Clinton has a 45-point lead over Bernie Sanders, 65% to 21%. Martin O'Malley, the third candidate in the race, has 3%.

Link: http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/09/politics/donald-trump-south-carolina-20-points/index.html

Now a 3:1 lead, with Clinton having locked up virtually every major endorsement in the state (Minority Whip Congressman Jim Clyburn, all three living Democratic ex-Governors, large majority of legislators, etc.)

Ready for everyone to weigh in on why this is irrelevant since some City Council member in Smallville just endorsed Sanders.

Trump not even elected yet...

and he is already screwing the taxpayers of SC:

Donald Trump’s plan to foreclose on a failed North Charleston business co-founded by one of his sons was approved by a judge Monday while the presidential candidate was traveling to the area for a campaign rally.
The foreclosure plan is a complex real estate financing move that could potentially allow the senior Trump to profit from a $3.65 million loan that son Donald Trump Jr. and two other borrowers personally guaranteed to finance a building products company called Titan Atlas Manufacturing but did not repay.
Taxpayers are among the most likely losers in the deal, because the company’s unpaid state and federal taxes and other government payments totaling more than $96,000 can be recouped only if the winning foreclosure bid is high enough to cover nearly $5 million in secured debts that are first in line.

I know that what he is doing is technically legal, but this is how he thinks the free enterprise system is supposed to work. I would love to see the asshole have to actually work and draw a check to get by sometime. Same as W Bush - never realized that it was an accident of birth and not his business skills that made him rich.

45 to 1

Story tonight on NPR relates that Clinton has a 45 to 1 edge over Sanders in endorsements by elected officials - local, state and federal level. Don't ask me to prove the info is correct; I am assuming NPR would not declare that as a fact if it weren't so.
I would love to see the spin of how this equates to Bernie "will" or "can" win. I probably wouldn't be able to follow the circuitous logic since most of the more rabid folks in that camp are on my Ignore list.
45 to 1 is a staggering figure.

latest SC primary poll

(cross-posted from GD-Primaries):

Not that it was ever in question, but a story in today's Columbia SC paper is titled " Clinton Support Soars Among Democrats in South Carolina.

Here is a link: http://www.thestate.com/news/politics-government/politics-columns-blogs/the-buzz/article42892149.html

Bottom line: Clinton leads Sanders 71-15. and has 80% support among African American voters in the state. Here is a quote from the story:

“South Carolina is currently Clinton country,” said Winthrop Poll director Scott Huffmon. “While Sanders has drawn large and boisterous crowds – including here at Winthrop – it appears that those crowds might not have significant overlap with likely primary voters."

I don't expect Clinton to win landslides in Iowa and NH, but SC comes next and will set quite a tone for the rest of the primary season.

Yes, they do

A month ago I was an undecided voter in
the important early primary state of South Carolina. Bernie Sanders has long been my favorite member of Congress, but I am
a big fan of the Clintons and had concerns about Sanders ability to win the general
election.
The absurd, divisive attacks I have seen here on Hillary Clinton have made me really wonder about the mindset of his supporters. As of now, I expect to
vote for Clinton, along with about 80% of black voters and 60% of all voters in this state come February.
Reread the original post and you might see what I'm talking about.

Everybody safe ?

In Columbia, I've never seen anything
likw the last few days. Think we had 18" of rain from Saturday afternoon till dawn Sunday, when a tree destroyed my bathroom where I had been standing 5 minutes earlier. I would have never known what hit me.
In a hotel room, all my family and co-workers are safe but several had several feet of water in their houses.
Life goes on. Be careful out there and take care or your neighbor. We can't afford to lose the few Democrats we have in SC.

Should we have a Jury for chronic alerters?

I don't mind, actually enjoy, serving on juries. But a large number of alerts lately have been, in my, opinion, completely without merit. Some people are obviously using the system to try to censor any comments that don't promote that person's personal agenda.
Should there be a limit on how many alerts someone gets in a 30 day period, similar to contesting fouls in sporting events?
Or, perhaps, have a person lose their alerting privilege for a period if they have too many alerts overturned.

Nikki returns to form

Nikki, the hero of the Rebel flag removal, returns to form by throwing some red meat to the base. Note the state only has 3 operating abortion clinics.

From today's State Paper:
In a letter to S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control director Catherine Heigel, Haley asks the agency to “engage in a prompt and comprehensive investigation of the policies and practices of abortion clinics in our state, prioritizing those affiliated with or owned by Planned Parenthood, its subsidiaries, and its affiliates.”
DHEC oversees the state’s abortion clinics, including one in Columbia run by Planned Parenthood. Other clinics are in Charleston and Greenville.
“Over the past weeks, I have been shocked by recent accounts of unethical practices at clinics affiliated with Planned Parenthood, particularly those regarding the sale of human fetal tissue,” Haley wrote.
