Slate's The Surge analysis- Trump is an asshole

The Surge on Slate. I wasn’t familiar with it until I’ve been reading Slate’s “Goodbye _____” memos to all the Trump crew. Very good and funny stuff.

I found their “What Biden got right” very interesting. I hadn’t seen much mention of the disaster that was the Dem ban on in-person canvassing.

Anyway here is the last part of the article

7. Decency won
Really though, that was the margin.
We know, what a cheeseball phrase. But we mean that it quite literally decided the race! Republicans did well across the country on Tuesday. Trumpism isn’t as unpopular as Democrats had hoped. But most presidents get reelected, and most in-parties have good down-ballot performances when their president gets reelected. Why Donald Trump lost, when the rest of his party did well, is because he is an all-time, world-class, singular asshole. He has used the power of the United States presidency as a means of ensuring you cannot go an hour without being reminded that he is an asshole, because being an asshole is the most efficient way to get attention. Joe Biden was a strong match against Donald Trump because, whatever you think of his policy views, he is straightforwardly not an asshole. People like him. COVID, the economy, policing, immigration, Ukraine, impeachment, fracking, Hunter’s laptop—put these things aside. Joe Biden matched up well against Trump in 2015 when he decided against running, he matched up well against Trump during the primaries, and he matched up well against Trump during the pandemic. The choice was between a person known for being decent and a person known for being an asshole. The majority spoke.

Washington Nationals invite President-elect Joe Biden to throw out first pitch on Opening Day

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30280991/washington-nationals-invite-president-elect-joe-biden-throw-first-pitch-opening-day

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Nationals are making their pitch to President-elect Joe Biden.

The Nats have invited Biden to toss out the ceremonial first ball next season on Opening Day. Washington is scheduled to host the New York Mets at Nationals Park on April 1.

"We're excited to continue the long-standing tradition of sitting Presidents throwing out the first pitch at the home of the national pastime in our nation's capital,'' the team posted on Twitter this weekend. Biden last threw out a first pitch as vice president in 2009, when the Baltimore Orioles hosted the New York Yankees on Opening Day at Camden Yards. The tall right-hander threw a high fastball that brought O's catcher Chad Moeller out of his crouch.

William Howard Taft began the tradition of presidents throwing out the first pitch in Washington in 1910. Since then, every sitting president except Donald Trump has thrown out a first pitch when Washington had a major league franchise.

Trump attended Game 5 of the 2019 World Series at Nationals Park and was booed when introduced as Houston played Washington.

Hey! Did you all hear they called the election for Biden & Harris?

It’s was about 11:30 this morning. we were at a rest stop on the way to my folks place. Social distanced mask outside lunch.

We think the dog has to go so we stopped. I’m walking him (no go) and turned around. My wife is standing back at th car holding up her phone and smiling.

Me: Really?!!!?
Her: Yep. They just called it.

We watched-listened to MSNBC on her phone for the remaining trip in.

Georgia's 50%+1 run off rule - is that unique?

Been wondering about this. I tried looking it up for all states but wasn’t successful.

I know that in 1994 Sen. John Warner convinced Marshall Coleman to run and Chuck Robb beat Ollie North 45%-43%.

Is Georgia’s rule unique to it or do other states have something like that too?

Football - Arizona State at USC 12 noon....eastern. That's 9AM in L. A.

Playing at the Coliseum. They moved the game to better reach an east coast audience.
I’m guessing they didn’t want to go head to head with SEC games.

MAPS - we are liking MSNBC more than CNN

My wife and I are numbers freaks.
Her call - 306 to232 Joe.

As animated as Kornacki is they have a better graphic.
Current - estimated total votes (with early voting in orange) - 2016 results to see relative performance.

Better than King on CNN in our humble opinion.
