In America's Richest Town, $500k a Year Is Now Below Average

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-20/in-america-s-richest-town-500k-a-year-is-now-below-average

Methodology

Bloomberg evaluated inflation-adjusted household data for all U.S. locations with a minimum of 2,000 households (as defined by the Census), and ranked them based on average household income. Almost 6,300 communities met the criteria, which includes approximately 75% of total households in the U.S.

In Atherton, the cheapest house on the market is currently listed for $2.5 million, according to real estate marketplace Zillow.com. Numerous tech billionaires have called the town home, including Google’s Eric Schmidt, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg and Microsoft’s late co-founder Paul Allen, whose former residence there was sold last week for more than $35 million. Golden State Warriors athlete Stephen Curry bought an Atherton estate last year for $31 million.

A Whale Blasted an Ungodly Amount of Ass Ham All Over Some Divers

Vice. Pics at link.

The whale flipped onto its side and started spinning in circles while engulfing the divers in shit, creating what one of the divers called a "poonado."

A group of divers near the Caribbean island of Dominica were engulfed in a mighty cloud of shit churned out by a sperm whale. The men were on a routine expedition to photograph the whales when one of their subjects started blasting an ungodly amount of butt butter into the ocean while spinning in circles, causing what one of the divers called a "poonado." Showing no mercy, the beast didn't stop until a 100-foot-wide cloud of its Mississippi mud had coated the divers and their equipment.

In a show of unwavering dedication to his craft, Canadian photographer Keri Wilk managed to capture the experience on film. Some believe the torrent of rusty nuggets was a little known defense mechanism, triggered by the proximity of the divers. On the other hand, it could have just been a spastic, diarrheic beast—that's how little we understand about whales and their insane, magical shits.

"After a few waves of feces were released and stirred vigorously by the whale, the water was like chocolate milk. I couldn't see my hand when I held it in front of my face. I had poop in my eyes, mouth, wetsuit, everywhere and I was soaked in it from head to toe.

USA Today: Group of federal judges calls emergency meeting over concerns about DOJ's intervention in 'politically sensitive cases'

Washington (CNN) The leaders of a group of federal judges will meet Tuesday to "address growing concerns" about the recent intervention of President Donald Trump and the Justice Department in "politically sensitive cases," USA Today reports.

Philadelphia US District Judge Cynthia Rufe, who serves as president of the 1,100-member Federal Judges Association, told USA Today that the group "could not wait" until a regularly scheduled April conference to discuss a "deepening crisis" involving the department and Barr. She said members called for Tuesday's meeting following Trump's criticism of the original sentencing recommendation for Stone, according to USA Today.

"There are plenty of issues that we are concerned about," Rufe said, according to the newspaper. "We'll talk all of this through."

Rufe, who was nominated by President George W. Bush, told the newspaper that the judges "are set to convene via a conference call involving 15 to 20 officers and members of the association's executive committee." She said the judges have not yet decided how or if they will report the "result" of the meeting.

Horrific wreck at NASCAR finish...but the show must go on

I'm not a NASCAR fan. The driver Ryan Newman is in the hospital with "serious but not life threatening injuries".

I post this for two reasons:
Okay the winner just won the biggest race of the season. A career mark for any driver but doesn't NASCAR have a clue as to the timing of the celebration?
Joe Gibbs shows his class. By all accounts he is a class act.

Exiting NFL coach raises $30k at Yard Sale for Charlotte Humane Society

Surrounded by rescue dogs: Is there a more fitting Charlotte goodbye for the Riveras?

In the latest Charlotte celebrities, they’re people too news, the Panthers former head coach, Ron Rivera, and his wife, Stephanie, had the exact same idea. The Riveras are moving to Washington, D.C., where Ron got a new job.

On Saturday, the Humane Society of Charlotte hosted a Ron Rivera-Panthers Yard Sale, selling new and gently used items donated by the Riveras. Also for sale were items belonging to and signed by Cam Newton, Greg Olsen and Luke Kuechly.

“We wanted to make sure we gave back every opportunity we could. This is kind of our swan song, our last opportunity to say thank you one more time,” Ron said on Saturday before the sale.

The Humane Society of Charlotte is raising money toward its capital campaign for a new facility, and the Riveras have been instrumental in making that happen. Using campaign money, The Humane Society will build a 46,000-square-foot campus with an ultimate goal of enhanced care.

Jury convicts Michael Avenatti of extortion against Nike (Facing 20 years)

A federal jury in New York on Friday convicted disgraced attorney Michael Avenatti of attempting to extort as much as $25 million from Nike over threats that he would expose misdeeds in the apparel company's grassroots basketball division.

Avenatti, who rose to fame two years ago by representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Donald Trump, was convicted on felony charges of transmission of interstate communications with intent to extort, attempted extortion and honest services wire fraud.

U.S. District Court Judge Paul G. Gardephe will sentence Avenatti on June 17. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

"Today a unanimous jury found Michael Avenatti guilty of misusing his client's information in an effort to extort tens of millions of dollars from the athletic apparel company Nike," U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said in a statement. "While the defendant may have tried to hide behind legal terms and a suit and tie, the jury clearly saw the defendant's scheme for what it was -- an old fashioned shakedown."
