White supremacy, with a tan (Interesting long read)

Only 4 paragraphs doesn’t cover this piece. Here’s the link.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/04/us/census-browning-of-america-myth-blake/index.html

I used to believe those predictions. Now I have a different conclusion:
Don't ever underestimate White supremacy's ability to adapt.

The assumption that more racial diversity equals more racial equality is a dangerous myth. Racial diversity can function as a cloaking device, concealing the most powerful forms of White supremacy while giving the appearance of racial progress.

Whiteness is elastic
Consider how Whiteness has been defined. It's a prime example of how White supremacy adapts.

The future of Whiteness could rest with Latinos
It's a hard truth for me to accept, because I see that racial hierarchy at work within my family.

The US may indeed become a majority minority country around 2045. We may become a rainbow nation of varying racial identities, skin tones and interracial unions.
But if we don't dismantle the racial hierarchy that gives status and power to Whiteness, this new version of America won't really be new.
It'll be just another updated version of White supremacy -- with a tan.

More kids hospitalized with Covid-19 in states with lower vaccination rates, CDC report finds

More children went to the hospital and emergency room in states with lower vaccination rates, according to a new study from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The research published Friday in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Report found that hospitalizations and emergency room visits for kids with Covid-19 increased from June to August of this year.

Uh-oh. Any "Firefly" fans here? Guess what news just broke

Rocket built by startup Firefly explodes off California coast

New York(CNN Business) A 100-foot-tall rocket burst into flames mid-air after launching from California Thursday evening, dashing the hopes of a Texas-based startup to put a rocket into Earth's orbit on its first-ever launch attempt.

The rocket, which launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base north of Los Angeles on Thursday, appeared to have a smooth liftoff as it soared out over the Pacific Ocean and approached supersonic speeds. But then, the rocket began to cartwheel, turning over itself, before US Space Force officials on the ground directed the company to destroy the rocket mid-air — called an emergency abort — so that it would not tumble uncontrolled back toward people or property. No one was harmed.

Jan. 6 rioter (stairs guy) back to jail - watched MyPillow guy Lindell's cyber symposium

Jan. 6 Rioter Goes Back To Jail Over ‘Addiction’ To Online Conspiracy Theories

Doug Jensen chased Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman up the stairs as the mob stormed the Capitol. He’s going back to jail.

Judge Timothy J. Kelly, a Donald Trump appointee, ruled on Thursday that Jensen should go back to jail pretrial because he had violated his conditions of release.

“I ordered the various conditions of release in this case because of the role that the internet conspiracy theories appeared to have played in Mr. Jensen’s alleged conduct,” Kelly said. “One of the reasons ... I decided to let him out with those conditions was in part based on his representations that he understood that they were a ‘pack of lies’ and that he had turned the corner.”

Jensen was released from jail, over the government’s objection, under strict conditions in July. As BuzzFeed News reported last month, a court officer discovered Jensen was using a WiFi-connected iPhone to watch videos online, and had watched a so-called “cyber symposium” that was hosted by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a prominent conspiracy theorist who has boosted baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

Barry Goldwater "Mark my words, if and when these preachers get control....

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the (Republican) party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

Jaguars walk back coach Urban Meyer's claim that team weighed COVID-19 vaccination status during roster cuts

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/jaguars/2021/09/01/urban-meyer-covid-vaccine-jacksonville-jaguars-cut/5680618001/

The Jacksonville Jaguars began Wednesday morning walking back new head coach Urban Meyer's latest ill-considered statements.

A day after Meyer said players' COVID-19 vaccination status factored into the team's decisions as it pared its roster down to 53, the team issued a statement contradicting Meyer.

“Availability is one of the many factors taken into account when making roster decisions," read the statement. "We have vaccinated and unvaccinated players on our roster, and no player was released because of their vaccination status.

"Ultimately, decisions are based on a player’s ability to help the Jaguars win. We educate our players and respect personal decisions as it pertains to the vaccine. We want to keep our players, staff and families safe as we comply with protocols related to both health and safety and competition on game days."

The NFL Players Association is investigating the Jags given vaccination status is not supposed to affect employment, and – unlike Major League Baseball, for example – individual teams cannot mandate their players get vaccine shots.

Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard: 'Consequences' for players unvaccinated against COVID-19

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32128733/colts-gm-chris-ballard-players-unvaccinated-covid-19-take-care-team

Ballard, in his annual media session before the start of the regular season, spent a significant amount of time answering questions about a number of his players not being vaccinated after quarterback Carson Wentz, center Ryan Kelly and receiver Zach Pascal were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after coming in close contact with a Colts staff member who tested positive.

"There's consequences to not being vaccinated," Ballard said. "Do I think everybody should be vaccinated? Absolutely. I'm for the vaccine. (Coach) Frank (Reich) is for the vaccine. We have a lot of guys on our team who are for the vaccine. Is it 100% perfect? No. But it's a good thing.

"It can help you from ending up in the hospital in a critical situation. And it helps stop some of the spread, and those are positive things. But for the guys who have chosen to not get vaccinated, they still understand they're still part of this team, it's their decision, but they're still part of our team and they have to take care of the team."

The Colts have had one of the lowest percentages of vaccinated players in the NFL. Ballard declined to say what that percentage is currently after trimming the roster down to 53 players Tuesday. Many players, including Wentz, have declined to say if they're vaccinated or why they chose not to be vaccinated.

One of the strangest things is that the GOP never really wanted to stop abortions.

Like guns it was the perfect “one issue” voter thing. All they had to do was say that they were Pro-Life and/or for gun rights (they’ve PC’ed that into 2A Rights) and huge swaths of people were taken care of. No time or resources needed to get their vote. Just put a big check mark next to all of them.

What happened was that true believers started getting elected especially at the local and state level. They were in a mission and they were going to stop abortion. When someone came up with the building or zoning code angle that’s when I knew the GOP had lost control of this issue.

This has all really happened in the last 20 years. The GOP has them a perfect little game going but they were too successful with their own people.
