Atlanta Falcons to use drones to clean stadium after games

Beginning after the team's Oct. 11 game against the Carolina Panthers, the 71,000-seat stadium, which has not hosted fans for the first two home games because of the coronavirus pandemic, will welcome back a limited capacity. (The stadium hosted about 500 family members, friends and associates for a test run during Sunday's Bears-Falcons game.)

The Carolina Panthers appear to be the first NFL team to debut what team president Tom Glick called a "germ-zapping robot'' that has been used in locker rooms, office space and other parts of the building.

The Xenex LightStrike Robot is being billed as the world's only proven coronavirus killing Xenon UV-Ray Robot. The robot, according to the company, is 99.9% effective at killing the coronavirus germ within two minutes.

The drone technology will be used for post-event disinfecting of the stadium's seating bowl, handrails and glass partitions. The drones allow for a 95% reduction of the time needed to clean the seating bowl.

CNN)The first masks arrived on the White House grounds in February by special order of the National Security Council, mobilizing early on to address the emerging threat of the coming coronavirus. Job One in their emergency response was to take personal precautions, preparing for the critical work at hand, multiple officials tell CNN.

But word that some NSC staffers were being told to wear masks quickly made its way back to the West Wing and it wasn't long before a sharp dictum came down.

"If you have the whole West Wing running around wearing masks, it wasn't a good look," one administration official recalled of the directive that came down from senior staff and lawyers.

The West Wing wanted to "portray confidence and make the public believe there was absolutely nothing to worry about," the official said, revealing the image-conscious reason for the opposition to masks for the first time.

Mr. O’Keefe’s promotional posts had said the video would be released on Monday, but Project Veritas released it on Sunday instead, a few hours after the publication of The Times’s investigation. The researchers concluded that this timing was unlikely to be a coincidence “given the huge marketing about a 9/28 release date,” they wrote in an analysis that Alex Stamos, who led the research team at the Stanford Internet Observatory, shared with The Times.

“It’s a great example of what a coordinated disinformation campaign looks like: pre-seeding the ground and then simultaneously hitting from a bunch of different accounts at once,” Mr. Stamos said

Roughly an hour after The Times published its article, Mike Lindell, chief executive of MyPillow and honorary chairman of Mr. Trump’s Minnesota campaign, tweeted a video of himself saying that Project Veritas’s supposed exposé would be released that night at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Mr. O’Keefe posted the video on Twitter at 9 p.m. on the dot, and the president’s son Donald Trump Jr. tweeted it just seven minutes later. Two minutes after that, the president’s “war room” account retweeted him, and the president himself soon began commenting.

The Republican Party Emerges From Decades of Court Supervision
After being bound by a consent decree for 35 years, the Republican National Committee is now free to continue its “ballot security” campaign.

In their 1981 lawsuit to stop the RNC from engaging in certain practices at the polls, the Democratic National Committee attested that in a New Jersey gubernatorial election, the RNC had sent sample ballots to communities of color, and then had the names for each ballot returned as undeliverable removed from voter rolls. Democrats also alleged that the RNC hired off-duty cops to patrol majority-minority precincts, wearing “National Ballot Security Task Force” armbands. These details were enough to secure a consent decree between the two party organizations and the court in 1982, stopping the GOP from engaging in such voter-intimidation practices.

With that history of behavior in full view, federal courts moved to allow the decree to expire in December 2017, a decision that was finalized Tuesday by a federal district court. For the first time in three decades, the RNC can pursue ballot-security measures without court preclearance.

The most striking implication of the death of the consent decree, though, may be more legalistic. The expiration date for the current consent decree was set in 2009, and the court by that time had become much more sympathetic to the RNC’s arguments, despite having found it in violation five years before. Even though the RNC had proven unable to find a single instance of voter-registration fraud, the court ruled that the party had a compelling interest in ensuring such fraud did not occur, thus paving the way for full clearance on practices approaching voter caging. The district court did acknowledge, citing the 2008 Supreme Court decision in Crawford v. Marion Cty. Election Bd, that voter intimidation and suppression were several magnitudes more likely to occur than voter fraud, but also rested its analysis on its assessment of the future behavior of the Republican Party, as opposed to its decades-long track record.

The Supreme Court’s 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision essentially nullified federal preclearance for elections laws, replacing the vigilantly proactive spirit of the 1965 Voting Rights Act with an insistence that the sort of overt racism it guarded against was consigned to the past. The decision to allow the consent decree to expire extends that approach. But if the courts are too optimistic, it will only be clear that the consent decree was still needed after an election goes wrong.

I got the text at 8am. Both tests negative. My daughter and I.
44 hour turn around. At least one other person - my boss - has also gotten a negative.

My wife got home last night from out of town. We really didn’t have many options even though we could possibly sequester one of us in this house.
I’m still teleworking for two weeks and already have another test scheduled for Saturday - 5 day incubation period. We’re all at home again. We’re getting the band back together man!!!!

They closed our building for one week. That seemed odd to me but I think that will give everyone a chance to get tested. Tests are readily available and the turnaround time is getting much better.

Women will be making NFL history this Sunday in Cleveland.

When the Washington Football Team and Cleveland Browns take the field in Week 3, it will mark the first regular-season game in NFL history that features female coaches on opposing sidelines and a female official on the field.

With the honors are Jennifer King, a full-year intern with Washington, Callie Brownson, the Browns' chief of staff, and NFL official Sarah Thomas.

We got a positive test at work. We are Teleworking/quarantine for 2 weeks.

I work very closely with this person. I’m their direct supervisor.

They are shutting down our building for a deep clean. Just got a call from my boss - we are staying home for 2 weeks.

Was able to get a test tomorrow at Patient First. 2-4 day wait. Got one for my daughter too. Waiting for her doctor to call me back to see if she should get th test and if the doc knows where we can get a rapid test.
My wife is out of town tending to medical crisis with her folks. No idea what we will do if I’m positive.
