Welcome to DU, Missn-Hitch!

Glad you're here! But really, haven't we all just had it UP TO HERE with their complaining and criticizing and fault-finding - and offering NOTHING in return. Okay so they hate the ACA and want to do away with it. And their "better idea" is... ... ... ... ? And their solution to this problem is... ... ... ... ? They'd dismantle it and replace it with... ... ... ... ?

Besides the sound of crickets chirping and a lot of dead air that doesn't work very well in broadcast/cable news, they offer nothing. Except for wall-to-wall, 24/7 negativity. Some way to run a country. No wonder you guys have been locked out of the White House for the last two election cycles (and are likely to stay that way).

A single line from your post here that blows shit all over the GOP's objections:

"In other words, when people complain that they don’t want to be subsidizing “freeloaders” through Obamacare, they don’t understand that they are already paying for the care of the uninsured." No DUH! That's the whole point. You're already paying for all the so-called "freeloaders," dumb-ass! That's THE reason why we need the Affordable Care Act.

Oh for fuck's sake... they're outraged because blah-blah-blah. BORING!!!!

Fuck 'em. Sorry about the crude language but it's certainly what they deserve. So tiresome - they're outraged about this and they're outraged about that. They're always throwing hissy-fits, always bitching and complaining, always fault-finding, just a bunch of malcontents on steroids. They just need a good case of STFU. We all need a case of their STFU. It'd be a dramatically more pleasant world if they'd STFU. I mean, sheesh - we're using THEIR health care coverage plan and they're still pissed off. (Well, I realize there are dimensions to that).

Yeah, that steaming pile of Dominionist fundamentalist bullshit.

Where do these people get this stuff anyway? Where do they get this shit that always ties religion to acquiring money and power? I'm asking rhetorically, because I think we all understand the urges and motivations behind it.

It just makes me shake my head. I keep going back to the story about Jesus driving the money-changers out of the Temple, and Jesus making a clear differentiation between church and state ("render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and to God that which is God's&quot . These are the same mammon-worshiping creeps that inspired the only temper tantrum Jesus ever is said to have had (other than that fig tree thing).

Well he sure won't carry California!

What a jerk!!!! A Terminator-size ego. Imagine him during the primary debates up on stage against ted cruz! Media whore versus media whore! And the Kentucky Pipsqueak too (rand-the-runt)! If we could add in Governor Oops too, that'd be world-class theater for sure!

Hey, remember "Issa" spelled backwards is "ASSi."

I think it's very thoughtful of him to include both his resume and character references in his last name for your convenience, don't you?

To that all I would add would be something like

"so live long and eat shit!"

Remarkable! Very pleased to hear this! TOO MANY PEOPLE NEED THIS, DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!

Dayum! What a GREAT essay, Mother Of Four!

This:
"It's about learning how to make your own choices without having to push your beliefs on others to validate them."

To me that is the very essence of what it means to be pro-choice. It's the individual's choice. Nobody else is worthy to interfere or weigh in or judge or anything. It reminds me of a girlfriend who got pregnant by her boyfriend. She was working at a business that had a morals clause in its employment contracts. They had to get married - something he hadn't planned for or was ready for, but they did. Long before that, though, she called me with the news. She was a mess. "Everybody I know says I should get an abortion. All my girlfriends. And my boyfriend." I thought for a moment and then said - "well, what do YOU want to do?" She responded, assertively, "I want to keep it." And I said "okay then. That IS YOUR choice. And since I'm pro-choice, I absolutely support you in that." Ordinarily, I might have suggested she terminate, too. But for Pete's sake, it wasn't for ME to say! It wasn't my body. It wasn't my life. It wasn't my job. It wasn't my employment contract. It wasn't my predicament. It wasn't my pregnancy. Most people just don't get that.

Thank you for sharing this story. It's well worth pondering at length. WHATEVER side one is on.

Welcome to DU, kickitup!

Glad you're here! It's just heart-breaking, isn't it? I started noticing years ago that somehow the term "do-gooder" had turned into a pejorative. You were putting somebody down when you called them a "do-gooder." As though it was somehow bad, now, to do good, or be nice to people, or try to be helpful, or show sympathy or empathy when somebody was down and out. Somehow that's become a bad thing. And it just makes NO sense to me at all. Sure doesn't sound like any kind of Christian thing to do. Yet I'm sure the same people consider themselves very Christian, maybe moreso than you, certainly. But their behavior says the opposite.

It's just so disappointing that so many Americans have embraced this. I think it's the hate-radio crowd that's made it okay to bring this kind of shit out of the closet and into the open and acceptable. They've been pounding away at it for years now. And it's worked. And it's tearing our whole country apart.

MAN, that's a great meme! I'd love to see that on a bumpersticker, olddad56!

Like that a LOT!!!

Likewise for Senator Warren! I love thinking about her as the SENIOR Senator from Massachusetts. It just sounds so great, and a lot more clout-worthy. I love the noise she's making, the questions she's asking, the can of worms she's opening. These assholes BELONG in jail. And not some cushy "Club Fed," either!

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
