calimary's JournalThey're both too considerate and kind to do that.
That's gotta be it.
One can hope.
I see those photos and feel embarrassed to be white.
Sometimes Ive even fantasized about looking up that woman (if shes still alive) and other African-American students of that era and apologizing personally to each of them. Dont know how, in reality, that would be possible at this point. I guess maybe thats why I spend so much of my time advocating for change. Seems like the least I can do.
Yeah. I think those would be my go-to's also.
Only problem is the colossal distance thatd put between our kids and us. And we dont know anybody there anyway - although if we got discouraged enough, that probably wouldnt matter as much, anymore.
And I am already discouraged and depressed - and disappointed in myself enough that Im even thinking these thoughts, in the first place!
I heard a news report that many African-Americans have actually left the U.S., and relocated elsewhere. My thoughts were A) what a shame that is, and B) wish I was going with em.
I am SO keeping this! This list! Outstanding stuff!
My Indivisible group writes up five asks (one per weekday) to send around to our members and friends and fellow activists each week. There are five of us writers, conveniently enough. And each Saturday we meet and discuss the issues and whats going on , and we each decide what to write about. As - uh - head writer after a fashion, I make a note of it all and we decide which asks go on what day, the most pressing and/or newsworthy tends to go first. And Ive said, on occasion, that if the news warrants it, its fair and reasonable to do more than one ask on the same subject, because you can always find a second angle to focus on.
So far, though, we havent done that. Five weekdays, five different asks.
Well, not this week. We have THREE separate gun-related asks disbursed throughout the next five weekdays. And the other writers are already thinking ahead to what gun angles and follow-ups we can issue for next week.
Theres ALWAYS more than one way to word it.
Always. In this case, if I focus on it, Id guess there are dozens of ways to word it.
I've actually toyed with the idea of relocating to Canada.
But I think Im too old to be allowed to do it.
But, gotta say, I DO NOT want to be in ANY way, ANY part of the madness thats seized this country now.
This is NOT the America I (thought I) knew.
... unless we forget or get sidetracked.
And they're reading it wrong.
They willfully sidestep the well-regulated militia part.
They ignore even the well-regulated part.
And they WAY misunderstand the militia part.
