Well said. VERY well said.

I hope they never get away with it, too, smirkymonkey.

Hmm - what's with these people anyway? I was always taught you do NOT mock someone in pain. You do NOT sneer at someone else's misfortune. You do NOT kick somebody when they're down. That's nothing but low-life behavior. What you're SUPPOSED TO do is be truly Christian about it - offer to help if you can, show courtesy and compassion, and say a prayer. And if you can't help that person, individually, then dammit, find a place to donate, volunteer, or find another way to contribute. If you can't help him, surely there are others closer to you, in your own community, who genuinely need your help also.

Like it or not, teabaggers, we all ARE our brother's keepers. That's what your very own Bible talks about. Check out the New Testament sometime when you're taking a break between mockings, bastards! Check out the Beatitudes. And then hang your heads in shame.

Fine, kid. WE'RE NOT.

And good for Brooke Baldwin for pressing it. I'm kinda surprised she didn't just cave like a good like a good little media sympathizer.

Mind-blowing, isn't it?

What a remarkable achievement! I'm glad we're still involved in space - even though it's much lower-profile, and seems to be much less of a priority, than it has been.

Know what? They can raise my taxes ANYTIME, if it goes toward stuff like this! Seriously. The quest for knowledge that pushes us off our little narrow perch - it can mean the very survival of our species, at the rate we're going. If we finally render our Earth uninhabitable, those who are left are still gonna need some place to go.

More good points, brush! And Welcome to DU!

Yeah, you've got to keep in mind the down ticket races, for absolute sure! AND future Supreme Court Justice nominees. CRITICALLY important to reelect our President. The Supreme Court is enough of a reason just by itself.

I appreciate this essay. Thanks for posting it, Jackpine Radical!

Well reasoned. Your point is VERY well-taken. Obama on his worst day is a million times better than the "best" of the GOP. Remember all the people who get the big access if the GOP gets back up on top. Remember also who WON'T be getting the big access if the GOP gets back on top. If you value your own concerns and political priorities, remember - they'll get short shrift in a romney White House. Or more accurately, they won't get any shrift at all.

I find a lot more to like than not to like about President Obama, even though I feel he compromised WAY too much with the bad guys for far too long. But I wholeheartedly support him, especially because of how many women's issues he's attempted to address. He has been inspirational at a time when our nation needed a tonic, a man of class, elegance, and dignity through out - truly "the adult in the room." And getting bin Laden doesn't hurt. I read a commentary about his foreign policy achievements that called him "the deadliest president" to the likes of al Qaeda and other anti-American terrorist groups. And y'know something? Damned if that ain't true! He's put more money where his mouth is than - as you word it - "any conceivable" republi-CON."

I particularly like what you wrote here:

"The fact of the matter is, when the shit hits the fan, I would rather have Barack Obama in the White House than any conceivable Republican."

No Freakin' KIDDING!!!!

Captain Gaffetastic!

Now it can be told...

Good one, johnfunk!

I say Aye.

Harry Reid is performing a public service. And all romneyhood has to do to put it all to rest is RELEASE THE FUCKING TAX RETURNS. Otherwise, he can't whine and moan and groan about how it's all so unfair - when it looks quite clearly as though he's hiding something.

And frankly, I don't much fancy the idea of a "president" who's busy hiding money in foreign financial hidey-holes so he can shirk his responsibility to help his country in her time of need. He should be first in line to chip in some more, since it looks as though he can EASILY afford to. Sacrifice much, mittski?

The only good thing about Watergate was - many of the bad guys actually got what they deserved.

nixon was driven from office, mid-term. So many of his henchmen actually wound up going to prison. There really was some justice. Not like most recently when kkkarl rove was given several chances to change his story and skated away free as a bird, cheney never testified, nobody ever laid a hand on dubya, and all we got was scooter libby - who - well, has he spent a single night in jail yet?

Nice one!

Good collection, riverwalker!

Kinda sums it all up in a single one-liner:
#RomneyHood patriotism means dodging the draft, outsourcing U.S. jobs, banking in foreign countries, evading taxes, punishing the poor.

I like yours, and this one, too:
#RomneyHood we send your kids to war and ours to France.

Heck, I like 'em all!!! ...where men get Viagra and women get a probe.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
