Could you post the links to some of the graphs you showed her? This OP of yours is quite literally a Master Class in refuting wrong-wing talking points in an elegant, intelligent, non-confrontational, AND THOROUGH way.
It'd be great to have those details in this thread - we all need some good information to back up our arguments, and those graphs aren't always easy for everyone to find.

Seems a lot like the wrongney campaign - marching down a side alley off the main street, off the parade route, and straight into a brick wall at the far end.

DESTABILIZE AND DEMORALIZE THE ENEMY.
Especially THIS enemy - that isn't used to having an opponent who fights back - and hits HARD. That's only been a recent development - where OUR side is actually showing a backbone, and claws, AND teeth. And brains and LOTS of heart. And the enemy is being shown as the cold, heartless, "let 'em eat cake" types they always have been, but may have been better at concealing. Our friend mitt "47 percent" wrongney certainly ripped the Emperor's clothes off in that one.
True. And psychologically, people respect you more when you fight. When you're a fighter.
Even if you're wrong. Look how much traction the republi-CONS have gotten through the years - because THEY seem to stand for something while we're looked upon as wishy-washy, and we're laughed at and disrespected. I can remember countless times when I heard dubya on the campaign trail the second time, telling people "you may not agree with me, but you know where I stand." And that was a very effective contrast with OUR guy, John Kerry, who was Mr. "I voted for it before I voted against it" and that played like a stink bomb in the queen's royal boudoir. bush won respect for simply looking as though he stood for something. And he did stand for something. All the WRONG things, of course, but he stood for something. And that resonates with lots of voters. We need to be FEARED. And begrudgingly respected.
Howard Dean, btw, did that in the Deep South - when he actually ventured into enemy territory as our DNC Chair, and talked to voters there one-on-one, and brought his liberal views with him. He knew he was gonna get resistance, but he also figured that some of these folks had only ever heard the Pox Noise/limbaugh version of the world. He offered HIS. And he spoke, later, about how people were receptive, and respectful that he actually tried to present his "contrarian" ideas to them. Some of them, he described, actually took a second look at some of the issues he described - like the choice issue in particular - and saw things differently as a result of his talk.
Howard Dean is STILL my hero! We practically had to force him on the DNC brass. And look at the results we got - in 2006 and 2008!
Whatever will further demoralize the GOP - THAT is what we should be doing.
DEMORALIZE and DESTABILIZE.
Kick 'em when they're down. ESPECIALLY when they're down. We don't often get an opportunity to stomp on a floor full of snakes that have had their fangs removed! Make sure you have good spikey track shoes on! Golf shoes would be even better! Or ice climbers!
Seems to me we should try to imagine what THEY would do to US if the situation were reversed, and let that motivate and inspire us. THIS IS NO TIME TO PLAY MOTHER TERESA! A little mortification is good for the soul. For theirs especially. If they're down, DO NOT offer a hand up. That's when you need to kick 'em in the teeth.
Secret Service should know about this.
Even if it's considered nothing much to worry about, I'd like to see some of these assholes start getting worried - when The Man knocks at their door and wants to ask them some questions.
Destabilize the enemy. Make 'em wanna grab for the Maalox bottle the instant they wake up every morning.
But let's not get complacent. We don't have this thing won yet.
Even so, I admit I wonder about that all the time - what will the GOP do to recover, longterm (and is that even possible, considering the demographic shifts in evidence even now)? Will they think they weren't CON enough or religious extremist enough, or will they start waking up to the reality-based world?
But all of that can wait. Let's win this thing first.
