I love John Oliver!

The story says they're thinking repetition? GOOD! EXCELLENT!!!

That’s freakin’ FANTABULOUS!!!

Message shrewdly, and simply. And repeat, repeat, repeat! Three times each, at least. Intervals of THREE.

Repeat, repeat, repeat. BECAUSE it’s necessary.

These are all useful.

Good to have!

Even better to be reminded. They may have acreage, but WE have the population centers. We mustn’t forget that. There are MORE OF US than there are of them. We just have to make use of those superior numbers.

Talking about Rudy?

September 30, 2019

I heard it was 300-and-some.

And I think 200-and-some days of that at his own golf resorts.

Just shakin’ down those taxpayers... quite a free ride you’re gonna getting, on the taxpayers, ‘eh, donald?

September 30, 2019

No kidding.

A cornered rat. We’re forced to think of him that way. We have to.

We have to. Expect it.

September 30, 2019

Yep. That exactly what he's doing.

A good and dedicated parent would do that with a repeatedly disobedient child. They can’t play nicely with their toys? You take their toys away.

September 30, 2019

And we need to make sure they do.

It’s not just trump & comp that can drill messaging into people’s brains through repetition. Notice how trump repeats his one-liners three times? There’s a reason for that. It works on the brain of the listener. Three times. Watch for it. Important that it be repeated or otherwise underscored three times.

Three times.

On edit - I found an interesting passage in a new story about how this repetition works - on trump:

“I am deeply frustrated with what he and the legal team is doing and repeating that debunked theory to the president. It sticks in his mind when he hears it over and over again, and for clarity here, George, let me just again repeat that it has no validity.”

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-was-repeatedly-warned-that-ukraine-conspiracy-theory-was-completely-debunked/ar-AAI1HQA?ocid=HPCOMMDHP15

It works. My husband the science nerd explained it to me that repetition works chemically in the brain. Three times is the minimum application that’s needed to plant and imbed an idea so that it firmly takes hold:
1st one pumps in the idea.
2nd one packs fat around it.
3rd one seals it in concrete.
And after that, it doesn’t matter. By the third repetition, it’s well on its way to getting baked in. And the more you repeat it, the deeper, stronger, and and more permanently it takes hold.

September 30, 2019

Of course! I don't know where I heard it but for some reason

I just had to have it! Katz Drug Store in Kansas City. I think I may have heard it on WHB radio, which I’d listen to late at night, on the radio that sat on my bedside table. I had insomnia even that far back. I remember WHB because they said it stood for World’s Happiest Broadcasters.

No - correction. Actually, I may have been more like 4 or 5, now that I think back and remember how old I was when we moved near there.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
