The paradox of on-line self-diagnosing.

Patients will diligently scour the internet for information on whatever symptom seems to be bothering them. And they routinely come up with the most abstruse, arcane, rare diseases imaginable for which they want to be evaluated and treated.

But in all that research, they invariable miss the simple medical admonishments.

Stop smoking.

Don't drink seven Cokes a day.

Don't eat so much.

Get your vaccines.

I guarantee you, you will feel better if you follow these simple easy-to-find-on-the-internet pieces of advice.

Whew! Just finished a seven-patient slate of COVID-19 tests.

Seven in a row.

I know the emergency-care and urgent-care providers have it a lot worse right now. Today is the first time I really felt like I was on the 'front lines'.

My team did a great job of getting the patients evaluated one after the other. Some had acute, non-specific symptoms, for which they were treated. Now we wait for the results...

Happy Saturday Night, everybody. No drinking for me tonight.

Time to get back into training.

I was putting on a shirt for work yesterday morning, and it was getting a little tight around the waist. So, not having worked out in two whole months, I decided to start getting some daily exercise again.

I started slowly this afternoon with a little cardio and some weight-lifting. I don't think I added a milligram of muscle mass with that. But it's a start. I feel, physically, the best I have in two months.

Don't you love the irony of us getting together to celebrate our solitary natures?

I always feel alone, even in a crowd.

There's a joke going around the internet:

When we were young, we sneaked out of the house to go to parties.

Now we sneak out of parties to go home.

Story of my life...

50,000 Posts Response Thank You Thread.

Thank you.

Despite the fact that responding to each of your kind posts would get me well on the way to 100,000 posts, I thought, as drunk as I am, to post a single 'Thank You' thread instead.

I love you all and I don't deserve you...

(Well, what did you expect? I'm an affectionate drunk...)

Trump's most fervent defenders are notably silent right now.

Either they've given up trying to defend his idiocy or they're experiencing chronic post-bleach-injection mortality.

I've always said that the Trumpsters' gene pools needed some chlorine.

I never dreamed Trump would agree with me...
