In his way, Pence is as bad as Trump, although in almost the opposite extreme.

Where Trump is loud, aggressive and mean---a bull in a China shop---, Pence is quiet, passive and---mean.

His utter spinelessness is unprecedented in any national figure in my lifetime. He has been jokingly referred to as "Trump's hemorrhoid" because no matter where Trump goes or what he does, Mikey is right behind him.

Recently, Trump has berated, criticized and threatened Pence because he could not bring himself to violate the Constitution in order to anoint him for a second term.

On Wednesday, as the armed insurrectionists who invaded our Capitol---atTrump's urging---searched for the Vice President to publicly execute him, Trump did not once inquire about or express concern about his welfare or the safety of Mrs. Pence and their children also in the Capitol.

In fact. Trump and his family and close associates danced to a disco tune and enjoyed refreshments as they happily watched the riotous rally crowd on numerous big screens. Videos of their celebration resembled the crowd you'd see in a sports bar on Super Bowl day.

And, with all of this as context---Pence even now cannot muster the gumption to invoke the 25th Amendment and put this monstrous man-baby in "time out".

The ONLY disadvantage with impeaching Trump that I can see is that it might, for a few days, entitle Pence to be called "Mr. President".

Ugh!

January 6, 2021: "---not written upon the memory, but stamped there with a die---"

"In the life of everyone there is a limited number of experiences which are not written upon the memory, but stamped there with a die; and in the long years after, they can be called up in detail, and every emotion that was stirred by them can be lived through anew; these are the tragedies of life.”

This explains all the long faces being worn by Republicans in Congress:

"Depend upon it, sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”---Samuel Johnson.

Some cancers can be eradicated with radiation; others with chemotherapy. But some

MUST be totally cut out of the body or they will grow and spread and prove fatal. Trumpism is that last type of cancer.

Trump and all vestiges of his fascistic cult MUST be removed from the body politic. We can't just resolve to eat a better diet and hope for remission. This will require major surgery and, figuratively speaking, the process will be bloody and it will leave scars.

Let's do this.

Mrs. Atticus came up with this: the rioters who invaded and desecrated our Capitol should

be known as the "DTDT's"*

"Donald Trump's Domestic Terrorists"

*I don't know how to type a DT with a small raised 2 after it for "DT squared".

Speculation on my part: if the house initiates impeachment, that raises the spectre for the

Senate Republicans of actually having to VOTE on national TV on whether or not Trump incited yesterday's riot. Would these cowards not then begin pressuring Pence and the cabinet to remove him preemptorively with the 25th Amendment?

January 7, 2021

No one with a microphone or access to one should be debating whether Trump will run

again in '24 or whether he will continue to be a "force" in American politics. The primary inquiry should be WHEN the 25th will be invoked and whether sending him to a cage at Gitmo would be "over the top".

Stop speaking of him as if he was entitled to anything less than universal contempt. I am not asking for his head on a pile, but I DO want his ass in a BIG sling.

January 7, 2021

A question for the condescending smarmy political "experts" who have spent the last 4 years making

excuses for Trump's evil insanity but are now ---SUPPOSEDLY--- shocked and disgusted by his seditious riot yesterday:

WHAT IN HELL DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HIM NOW THAT WAS NOT "IN YOUR FACE" FOUR YEARS AGO?

Most of you---like this or not---were COMPLICIT in his destructive assault on America. That you may have now pulled your heads out of your asses does not begin to excuse that!

All the talk of "rebuilding" the Republican party, of "getting back to principles" and "shovelling

our neighbor's driveway" is too infuriating to even merit serious discussion.

Where are these "good Republicans" now DEMANDING that Trump either resign or be removed by either the 25th Amendment or impeachment? Over 100 Democrats in Congress have already made this demand, but not one Republican that I have heard about.

Yesterday was not a "protest", it was the Trump-inspired INVASION of the CAPITOL by rioting criminals who enliven now are high-fiving each other and gloating about how "that was just the beginning" and, of course, "TRUMP WON!"

I guess I am officially a "dinosaur", but if the sight of some thug sitting in Nancy Pelosi's chair in her office does not make your blood boil and the little hairs stand up on the back of your neck, I just do not give a shit about your opinion! Any attempt at "discussion" would be futile and likely increase our distaste for each other.

Trump is a criminal. Trump is an unAmerican plotter against our democracy. Trump still has the nuclear codes.

WHEN does he get removed and arrested?

TODAY is the ONLY acceptable answer to that! HE IS A THUG!
