How do I say this tastefully? If you do not VOTE in this election, you should have your

ass kicked so hard you'll be able to reach over your shoulder to wipe it.

October---probably my favorite month of the year. Over the past couple of weeks, in weather

that was pretty fabulous most days, I have split firewood, dug sweet potatoes, inspected the fireplace chimney, picked tomatoes, squash, pole beans and peppers and power-washed our deck chairs and stored them inside.

In the next week or so, there are mowers to winterize and a garden to be cleared and tilled. The several wind chimes will come inside and multiple hoses will be drained and stored in the basement.

At 71, these tasks take a little longer than they used to, but I assure you that I do not dread or resent any of them. With what I hope is the "wisdom of age", I give thanks that I am still able to get out and about and accomplish something helpful each day. I pause now and then to appreciate the clear blue October sky, suck in the cool clean air and stand in awe of the glorious red and orange maples at the far edge of the meadow.

One evening soon, we will light the season's first fire in our fireplace and sip wine we made as the dancing flames entice us to just sit---and watch---and think of things we thought we were "too busy" to consider.

In this season of gathering and sheltering, we will do our best to let love and gratitude overwhelm the greed and hatred that is striving still to invade and profane this golden autumn.

The one essential FACT that every American, without exception, must have burned into

their brain in order to deal with and survive Trump: He believes he IS America when he says "America First!".

He, and no one else, matters.

To get his way, he will sacrifice you, me, his supporters, even his CHILDREN.

All other comments about him and criticisms of him are merely "details". The core TRUMP FACT is that he cares about just one person: himself.

Honestly, I was shocked that Trump took the helicopter ride back to the White House.

Given that he has defeated Covid and "feels better than he has in 20 years", I expected him to just jog back accompanied by his Proud Boy mob.

I have just erased a rather lengthy rant which called for actions that would be considered

extreme and possibly even illegal. But, you will not see my passionate "cri de couer" and, as the Trump thugs anticipate, we may complain and wring our hands and scan the horizon for our champion, but---we will continue to follow the very rules that they have employed against us.

They may commit crimes, abandon traditions and revel in the outrage they create, but we will turn again and again to the "tried and true" and do things "the way they're SUPPOSED to be done".

If we continue to refuse to think outside the box we may be confined in it.
