Atticus
Atticus's JournalSo, Tulsi Gabbard has "left the Democratic Party". What's next?
Will Reverend Al leave the Klan?
Will Senator Tuberville abandon the NAACP and the SPLC?
Or, might Steve Bannon disassociate himself from the ACLU?
I have started this post several times and decided not to complete it. I'm sure some will
think I should not have changed my mind, but I have. You may call it wrong, but do not doubt that it is sincere.
Some things are "complicated"; some are MADE complicated.
Lies are not complicated. They reveal fundamental dishonesty on the part of those who utter them about significant issues. I do not speak of the weight of the bass you landed, your golf score or even whether you've "had work" on your crow's feet. I am speaking about issues like whether the light was red or green, whether you've cheated on your spouse or partner or whether you truly love them. These lies hurt people.
And, at last, here's my point: some liars do so reflexively, without shame and---here's what stopped this from being posted earlier---will not stop until their lies start costing them teeth---or legally equivalent prompt penalties.
We are way past "enough"!
I guess I had better just post this and resist commenting about to whom it might apply.
"Depend upon it, sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully."
---attributed to Samuel Johnson.
Ironically, the two Russians who fled their country by crossing the Bering Sea to Alaska
did so as I was rereading Michener's "Alaska" replete with tales of the many desperate Russians who perished while attempting the same crossing.
For those all wobbly about the blowback of indicting Trump---an old English saying:
"Tender-handed stroke a nettle,
And it stings you, for your pains:
Grasp it like a man of mettle,
And it soft as silk remains."
Like the MAGAs are going to be decent people if we just let Trump slide?
Urinate upon them!
Could all the Republicans who are "outraged" by the President's pardons for marijuana
possession TRY to wrap their heads around this FACT: by far the most widely used and abused drug in this country is now and has always been---ALCOHOL !
If there is a "gateway drug", it's warm beer guzzled while sitting on a tailgate.
And, ask a cop who he'd most expect trouble from: someone who's baked or someone who's drunk.
Al Gore began warning us about drastic climate change in 1993. Basically, the reaction was
"Yeah, ---- whatever."
IF we had listened to his "inconvenient truth" then, we could now be telling OPEC to take a long walk off a short pier.
But, no---bringing snowballs onto the Senate floor to disprove "global warming" was applauded as an appropriate response to "liberal hand-wringing".
Look behind you. That's the tipping point.
Does everyone realize that if we lose the House in th these mid-terms, the new chair of the
Judiciary Committee will be Jim Jordan?
A helpful and meaningful definition: "condescension"---
"behavior that shows you think you are more important or more intelligent than other people"---Cambridge Dictionary
Journalists, repeat after me: "How? Specifically---give details!"
Repeat that, please, each and every time a cowardly Republican hack claims that THEY will bring gas prices down if Americans will just elect them in the midterms.
McCarthy and Kennedy have already started this vague high-decibel bullshit. Deal with it, ok?
