Would it be considered "over the top" if one were to mail gift certificates for the most crowded

local bars and restaurants to the more extreme and obnoxious "anti-lockdown" Trumpers in one's community?

Asking for a friend.

For those who don't want to wear a mask, I have an alternative.

Just hang a sign around your neck that reads: "I don't give a shit about anyone but ME!"

That sends the same message. Breathing will be easier, but sleeping? Not so much.

I am certain this will mark me as senile in the minds of some, but now and then,

playing certain BEATLES tunes just seems to take all the wind out of my sails. I've just stopped what I was doing to listen to George's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and the enormity of what has been pissed away between the first time I heard that song and now settled over me like a shroud.

I think my weekend will be a somber one.

Carry on.

To the "good Christians" demanding their "right" to meet in crowded churches, sing hymns

at each other and trust the words of the Psalms instead of the consensus opinion of doctors and scientists: I, for one, am 100% supportive of your exercise of what you term your "faith", PROVIDED that you not be back-sliding hypocrites.

Please publicly forswear any medical treatment in the event your faith does not protect you and you "somehow" become infected with the Corona virus. Having loudly declared your total reliance on Biblically promised protections, you surely would not want to sully the purity of your faith by accepting heathen remedies like oxygen masks and ventilators. So, "Onward Christian Soldiers"! Sign the "I Don't Need No Stinkin' Medical Care" pledge today!

And, when you attend services this weekend, remember: "Church ain't over till all the snakes are back in the box."

Bless your hearts!

About Joe's comment to Charlamagne Tha God: the sentiment is hardly new:

"A black man voting for the Republicans makes as much sense as a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders."

--J.C. Watts Sr., the father of rising ( black ) GOP star Rep. J.C. Watts. (Several decades ago)

A pox upon you and your house, Herr Trump!

Please have someone who can read consult a dictionary and read the definition of "hypocrite" out loud for you. Then, flip open your compact ( yes, we know about it ) and look in the mirror. That is not just "a" hypocrite: that is THE hypocrite whose photo should be used as an example of "hypocrite" in every dictionary from this point forward.

YOU---the most sacreligious, cruel, insensitive, intolerant and arrogant gob o' "doggy doo" now breathing our oxygen decide to essentially mandate that churches can hold services for packed houses and that you will override any governor who tries to enforce compliance with the social distancing recommendations of virtually every non-whore doctor or epidemiologist on the planet? YOU have the unmitigated GALL to tell us we should go to church more? Did one of the "Two Corinthians" tell you so?

I am capable of expressing myself with words and phrases that would be totally "safe for work" or, for that matter, to read aloud with children in the room. But, while the kids might understand, I am not at all certain you would, so I will offer just this brief response to your religious advice:

KISS MY ASS, YOU RANCID BAG OF PUS!

(Is it too early for a "wee dram"?)

The common name for "hydroxychloroquine"?

"Herd thinner".

I have no doubt that, as he promised, Trump will have a "vaccine" for us by the end of the year.

I think I'll pass on the "vaccine" and wait for a vaccine.

The recent Quinippiac poll told us quite a bit more than that Biden has an 11 point

lead over the fuster cluck. While ONLY 50% of those polled favor Joe, THIRTY NINE PER CENT---39 damn per cent---STILL---after all that he has said and done, after all the ignorance and hate and unjustified arrogance, after all that anyone with the IQ of a philodendron now KNOWS---STILL SUPPORT THE MANIAC!

We should not knowingly do business with anyone who still supports Trump. I don't eat their pizza or burgers or chicken sandwiches. I don't buy their insurance, read their newspapers or watch their cable channels. I will not knowingly use any service provider with a Trump sticker on their vehicle and any one wearing a MAGA cap will see the same expression on my face as I'd show to someone abusing a child or painting a swastika on a synogogue.

39%---that ought to light a fire under us.

For several springs when I was a youngster, a couple of my neighborhood friends and I

would spend an afternoon in May scouting for mourning dove nests in the woods along a small creek at the edge of our small hometown. Doves construct a very rudimentary nest. It is basically just a handful of twigs and is nearly flat. Usually, just two white eggs were deposited in it.

We were careful not to touch or disturb the nest when we spotted one. Over the following three weeks or so, we'd check on them regularly until they hatched and it was just totally "neat" to watch "our" doves fledge and eventually leave the nest.

Then, one spring we noticed "Billy" following us as we checked on the nests. He was a year younger and known to have a hot temper. We avoided him as much as possible, but now he was trailing us, which seemed suspicious.

Sure enough, when we back-tracked and revisited the nests we'd just checked, all were now empty and the developing eggs smashed to the ground and stepped on. We chased him all the way to his house where his mother told us to "git" and to quit pestering her Billy.

A couple of years later, many were mortified when it was discovered that Billy had run an entire litter of beagle puppies through the wringer of his mom's Maytag.

A few years after that, I had to intervene to prevent him from continuing to slap his girlfriend around on a public parking lot.

I am not contending that Billy's family was representative, but they were the only Republicans in our neighborhood and, rightly or wrongly, reinforced my budding conviction that Republicans weren't "nice people". That conviction has never dissipated.
