It has been said that we do not truly live unless there is something we are willing to die for.

This is a drastic thing to contemplate, but is something I have seen discussed in various opinion pieces.

There is another drastic thing to contemplate that seems to be the other side of the coin: is there anything we are willing to kill for?

If we are we willing to give our own life to, for example, protect our loved ones, why not be willing to take the life of those who would harm them?

I expect that this topic will not be well-received by some, but perhaps some can shine some light into this dark crevasse in our minds.

Seems an appropriate day to re-ask: How do you know when a Trump rally is over?

When they have all the snakes back in the box.

This may offend a few of you, but it will make me feel better. "Dear" Trumpies:

Do not waste my time pretending to give a big brown rat's ass about Americans who are not male, white, heterosexual, snake-handling Trump loyalists---preferably wealthy. If any of you read that and say "That's not me!", that just means you are too damn stupid to understand what your "party" demands of you and too blind to see that your place in it is, eventually, under the bus.

And, on the off chance that some of you think I can be intimidated by your screamed profanities, take heed: you do NOT want to get into a cussing contest with me!

Ordinarily, the following would be unnecessary but, as you are Trumpies, I feel I should make it clear that this was the mild, cleaned-up version of my thoughts. Face to face, anticipate an uncut and uncensored version.

"Please proceed".

Some times, common sense is the obvious best response, as in: "If it is the sacred right of the

50 states to set their own rules for electing their own state leaders--with which I totally agree---how or why is it not an equally sacred right for the federal government to set the rules for electing our federal government leaders?"

Hm-m-m?

Colbert's "compliment" to "W" Bush, delivered in person as he roasted him, seems appropriate

for McConnell:

(Paraphrased from memory---) "This man is consistent. He'll tell you the exact same thing on Wednesday that he told you on Monday, no matter what happened on Tuesday!"

Few things are more consistent than Mitch's "NO!" to anything proposed by a Democrat, even if it originated with the Republican party.

What do people call a presidential candidate whose party functionaries dishonestly declare him

the winner of the electoral votes of numerous states in which he overwhelmingly lost the actual popular vote?

"Mr. President".

This is the transparent intent of the current Trump party and they are passing laws to enable it in state after state.

This post is not intended to state what just happened in the US Senate. It is intended to

state what I fear many Americans would say just happened, and that is "Biden and the Democrats failed miserably". Many would also add that the Republicans are running Congress because they are strong and the Democrats are weak. Again, I am not saying that, but believe many are.

I know there are reasons for what we just saw in the Senate and I know we have decent, competent and courageous people fighting for us 24/7. But, I think we could do a better job of educating average citizens about how much has already been accomplished, who is responsible for the delays in implementing our policies and how we plan to overcome the unprincipled obstructionists that continue to worship the person who lost the last election by nearly 8 million votes.

"We shouldn't kill the filibuster because we may need to use it in the future" is like

"We shouldn't shoot THIS grizzly bear that's breaking through our door because there MAY be another one that we'll need to shoot."

I suppose it is just another confirmation of my status as a dinosaur, but I refuse to use

"self check-out". It is not a matter of being intimidated by it or being "bamboozled" by the "newfangled" technology.

Self check-out lanes are just another way that Walmart and other big-box stores can cut costs by eliminating more of those real flesh and blood cashiers. The machines don't ever call in sick, complain about hours or ask for vacation time. They also don't smile or ask if you found everything you needed.

Every self check-out lane means one less paycheck for someone in my community who needs it. I refuse to condone this blood-thirsty capitalism and I loudly explain the above each time I'm waiting in a checkout line and a manager cheerfully points out that "there are self check-outs available!"

If I am a dinosaur, my name is "Liberalosaurus".
