email to my congressman

Bradley Byrne, R-AL 1st Dist.

We took an oath.

Dear Brad,

You and I took virtually the same oath.
I took it in 1963 when I raised my right hand and was sworn in as a Second Lieutenant in the Alabama Air National Guard.
You took it as a U.S. congressman.

You swore: I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

My oath went a bit farther: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

If you don’t see that this president is in distinct violation of our constitution, then you’re not nearly as smart as I think you are.
No president should undermine and denigrate the Department of Justice and the FBI, period.
What this one is doing is blatantly transparent.

You must know that this will not end well.
It’s time for you to be on the right side of history.
You owe it to yourself and you owe it to us in the 1st District.

Anyone else have PBGC pension?

When TWA (Trans World Airlines) declared bankruptcy in 2000, our pensions were transferred to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

I get a monthly check. We could not survive without it.

President Donald Trump nominated Gordon Hartogensis as director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
Hartogensis is the brother-in-law of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.
The agency he would lead provides retirement benefits to more than 800,000 people whose own pension plans failed.

This scares the shit out of me.
You?

Evidently I got Miz t. a bird-repelling bird feeder.

A few days ago she said for Mothers' Day she'd like a bird feeder outside our home office window.
Her wish is my desire.
Done!

I bought a cool red feeder at Lowes.
Fits on a 1" pvc pipe.
6'.
Squirrel-proof.

Put it up at 6:00 this morning so she'd see it when she got up.
So it's been up, chock full of tasty bird seed, for over 10 hours.
The back yard is FULL of birds.
They're almost bumping into each other.
We had 3 mid-air near misses.

And not one single bird has come close to that red bird repellent feeder.

Couple of Alabama repug campaign commercials

I'M MORE CHRISTIAN THAT YOU ARE!
Yes, her name is 'Twinkle'.

Not sure what 'oystchers' are, but go Kay-Kay.
I was born and raised in Alabama, and I can barely understand her.

Here's the Sarah Sanders press briefing I'd like to see.

She comes out and gives her normal briefing of half truths, exaggerations, and outright lies.
And then she calls for questions.
And there is...SILENCE.
No one raises a hand.
No one says a word.
All the reporters just sit there and stare at her.
If she's still standing there after 2 minutes (a L-O-O-O-O-N-G time on live TV) all the reporters rise in unison and walk out.

OK, I'll ask it. What does "Be Best" mean?

This is what the networks showed as the slogan for First Lady Melania Trump's 'child betterment' campaign roll out today.

I know the U.S. Army probably already has copyrighted "Be All That You Can Be!"

But "Be Best"?
Not Be THE Best, or Be YOUR Best.
Just Be Best.

Awright! I'm ready.
I'm BEST!
See?
I'm bein' BEST!

Maybe this is a Slovenian saying?
Grandfather to grandson: "Be BEST!"
Grandson: "Yes, of course Grandfather. I will be BEST!"

It's almost post time.

In honor of the Kentucky Derby I'll be making Mint Juleps for me and Miz t.
A generous Kentucky cousin has given us a bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey, "The OFFICIAL Whiskey of the Kentucky Derby".
Booya.

Pisses me off when I can't do what I used to could.

No, not that.
Trying to hang some blinds today and I just can't see well enough to do it.
Macular degeneration.
Hanging four blinds would have been a 30 minute job a few years ago.
Tried to talk Miz t. through it, but she just doesn't have the strength to get the screws in.
Damned frustrating.

Wish I could find a handyman who didn't charge $20 an hour.
Getting old sux.
