I'm pretty convinced that angry white America is hellbent on burning America to the ground

Please, tell me that I'm wrong.

And if you do so, I would appreciate it if it could be done without imparting a "not this white person," because, obviously, I'm not talking about any white person reading this post on this site. Given that, I suspect that many of the white people on this site are personally acquainted with other white people who otherwise meet the criteria. Crazy Trump loving uncles, neighbors and co-workers are generally not known for keeping their love of all things Trump to themselves. In their diatribes, I suspect that they might have relayed some type of reasoning that explains their support for someone who works against their own interests.

There's also the dichotomy that these same angry white people, who are insistent in destroying the republic, are also of mind that Trump is their savior.

Which, of course. is tantamount to a mass, hysterical psychotic break from reality. I have listened to his supporters in interviews and they all have this penchant for sounding deranged, ignorant and assigning their own distorted beliefs and subjective reality to Trump's own words, when many times he had never uttered anything that they've said.

They have this image of Trump in their own heads that mirrors many of their own biases, It's not like Trump isn't bad enough, his white grievance apocalyptic death cult has to consciously create someone who is even worse than he actually is. And Trump, of course, runs with this pathologically unhinged fantasy like a toddler running through shards of glass with a loaded Glock.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what has gotten into white America, that it's ready to throw the entire country into the abyss of white nationalist authoritarian dictatorship. Is it a complete surrender to mass paranoia? Is it, as I suspect, the result of white identified society never fully resolving the historical issues of race?

What do these people expect expect from this country and if they don't get what they expect, why are they so intent on burning it to the ground?

They really don't seem like people who have benefited from a lifelong mentor-ship that teaches them to solve their own problems. They don't seem to be people who have been taught the benefits of compassion and cooperation.

What they sound like is a disorganized gaggle of spoiled, entitled brats in adult bodies, who all lack the requisite critical thinking skills to realized when a conman is exploiting them. He's leading these people into a probable life of hardship and national oblivion, and their response is, "Sure, let's do that."

In a country that doesn't want to destroy itself, Trump would never be a viable candidate, the Republican Party wouldn't abandon its own established principles and the national press wouldn't coddle and facility this madness. But that's where we are today.

I can only come to the conclusion that American's own self-destruction is both inevitable and well-deserved, if the majority of the voters will it to happen. Black and Brown voters, along with the minority of left-leaning white voters who are willing facilitate a caucus, are not guaranteed to prevent it from happening. There's only so much that can be done in the face of gerrymandering, voter suppression, anti-democratic propaganda and the mass influx of right wing financing.

A fractured and disheartened opposition to creeping white nationalism can only accomplish so much, even if we are technically in a slim majority.

Again, I would appreciate it if you tell me that I'm wrong.
