NBA player JJ Redick had an 'Abortion Contract' With Ex-Girlfriend???

July 23, 2013: MediaTakeOut.com just got its hand on an "abortion contract" that JJ Reddick entered into with his girlfriend at the time, Vanessa Lopez.

The two got their LAWYERS to sit down and agree that if Vanessa had an abortion, then JJ would agree to "attempt" to be in a relationship with her. And if after "attempting" to be in a relationship, they break up after one year - he'd pay her $25K.

Breaking: Sanford police confirm Dept of Justice placing a hold on all evidence from the #Zimmerman trial including his gun.


Department of Justice Statement:

"As the Department first acknowledged last year, we have an open investigation into the death of Trayvon Martin. The Department of Justice's Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division, the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation continue to evaluate the evidence generated during the federal investigation, as well as the evidence and testimony from the state trial. Experienced federal prosecutors will determine whether the evidence reveals a prosecutable violation of any of the limited federal criminal civil rights statutes within our jurisdiction, and whether federal prosecution is appropriate in accordance with the Department's policy governing successive federal prosecution following a state trial.”

Dumb question RE: Congress and the NSA

If congress is supposedly so outraged, why haven't they just pulled the financial plug? Why aren't they even discussing the possibility?

Why can congress at the drop of a hat cut or eliminate funding for something like NPR, the NEA, embassy security in known hostile territories, etc.; continually downsize the USPS, FAA, Dept. of Interior, NASA, etc.; with a stroke of a pen yank most of the regulatory powers of the EPA, FCC, FDA, Dept. of Labor, SEC, etc.; have SERIOUS, legit discussions of permanently abolishing the IRS, Dept. of Education, Social Security, Medicare, AND vote 30-something times to abolish 'ObamaCare' before it's fully implemented?

Just some simplistic food for thought...Maybe I'm getting too cynical, but I did want to mention these things lest anyone think congress is all of a sudden going to take some *meaningful* action...There is NO way WHATSOEVER to "fix" the NSA and DHS other than outright elimination...Any legislative checks put on their power will be temporary at best...

Am I the only one shocked at how many DUers still don't "get it?"

I'm not just talking about the hardcore trolls and racists; but the longtime, 20,000+ post, everyone-knows-their-name members??

Would the DU of say five years ago be this divided and combative over the case and it's outcome? I know part of this is because there are a *lot* less of us here than there used to be, but a site supposedly about liberal, progressive politics shouldn't need a continuous black viewpoint counterweight to know that racial stereotyping and profiling is a BAD thing...

Or maybe things on the forum have always been like this, and I've just been blind to it??
