A little bit of color for a dreary November... I took these with my phone camera last week...right now it's the only camera I have that works!

These I took earlier during the summer when my echinopsis cacti bloomed. Several times in fact! Sadly the blooms only last a day or so. All in all I had five blooms. One cactus had two blooms at once!

The phone camera is pretty impressive, you can get pretty close to an object. However I have noticed the blue washed out effect probably glare, I tried compensating for it with photoshop. Didn't do any color adjusting, the gazanias especially do get that bright!

Hello, greetings and salutations everybody! It's that time again - time for the November Photography Contest. The theme this month has been chosen for you by our last contest winner, the illustrious Heartstrings!
The theme this month is:
“Reflections….near or far”.
This thread shall remain open until the 15th of November but it might close earlier if we hit 30 submissions... so don't leave it until the last minute or you may miss out and we wouldn't want that to happen, there's enough sadness in the world already.
Okay now here I've copied and pasted The Rules for you: Please keep your entry no larger than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension and under 675K in file size and limit photo editing to a reasonable amount. We would prefer your photo look like a photograph instead of a digital design. If you aren’t sure, ask the group in a separate thread. You’ll get plenty of feedback to specific questions. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing, just ask. As per, one entry per photographer and they have to be your own work. 
If I open it up for a second entry, I will let you know through the usual means of communication. I'll be around though, since I am running this thing so I'll make some periodic announcements begging pleading and cajoling people for entries so we can attain that magical goal of 30 entries.

November Photo Contest Theme & Info!!!
Hello hello hello everybody!
It's a new month so that means it's once again time to start thinking about our monthly photo contest! Our theme this month, selected by our illustrious previous winner Heartstrings, is...
"Reflections... Near and Far".
A pretty much self-explanatory topic open to all sorts of interpretations wouldn't you say? I know we've had similarity themed contests in the past and they always turn out with lots of gorgeous photos so it should be a fun time finding an evocative photo. Or two, as the case might be.
Since Thanksgiving is a little early this year and followed closely by an early Hannukah I'd like to have this month's contest wrapped up by Tuesday the 23rd so that means the time is now to start going thru your archives or going out and shooting something new...it's been raining all over the country (except maybe here in So Cal) so I'm sure there's lots of opportunities!
I'll open up a thread for entries on Monday Nov. 8, not quite a week from now. I'll keep it open for submissions until. Monday the 15th or when we have 30 entries if it's earlier. The preliminary rounds will begin the 16th and run for three days and then the finals begin either the 19th or 20th so we should be done on the 23rd so that should give us all plenty of time to go atisket atasketting over to Grandmother's house after that! Sounds good? I hope so but if you have any questions please ask me I'll be here all month!
