Another comment from God.....

It is useless for a society to blame a person's "mental health issues" when that society itself is insane.

Someday I'll learn how to post a tweet on my phone.

What to know what Sen. Tom Cotton will say about immigration on the Senate floor?

Here's the reply I got this morning.

Thank you for contacting me about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. It’s good to hear from you, as always.

President Trump’s decision to phase out the DACA program is the first step toward cleaning up the mess that President Obama’s unlawful amnesty left behind.President Trump is right that this amnesty would never have stood up in court. Yet, we now face a situation where some 700,000 people, who were brought to our country as minors, face legal limbo. Dealing with this problem is a legislative task, not an executive-branch task.

We must recognize that codifying the DACA program will have two inevitable, negative consequences: encouraging future illegal immigration with minors, and allowing those individuals to obtain legal status for their family members via extended-family chain migration—rewarding the very people who broke the law in the first place and further depressing working-class wages. As Congress negotiates how to codify DACA in a lawful and responsible manner, we must mitigate the negative consequences by stopping the extended-family chain migration that hurts the working class and by strengthening the enforcement of our immigration laws.

As you may know, the White House recently released a framework for immigration reform. President Trump’s proposal would provide a 10 to 12-year path to citizenship for up to 1.8 million illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as minors, while also authorizing $25 billion for border security and enforcement measures and eliminating the flawed Diversity Visa Lottery. Most importantly, this framework would promote nuclear family migration by limiting family sponsorships to spouses and minor children only, ending extended-family chain migration. This proposed reform to the family preference categories is modeled off of the RAISE Act (S. 1720), legislation I introduced last year that would update America’s permanent, legal immigration system to fit the needs of our 21st century economy.

The president's framework is generous and humane, while also being responsible. It protects those eligible for DACA—who are here through no fault of their own—and by securing the border and putting an end to extended-family chain migration, it will prevent us from ending up back in the same situation in five or ten years. This proposal should be the starting point of our discussions over legislation to codify DACA. And I look forward to working with my colleagues to turn the framework into legislation that can pass both the House and the Senate with widespread support.

I’m honored to serve as your senator. You, your family, and our state will remain on my mind and close to my heart in my work. Always feel free to call my office at (202) 224-2353 or visit www.cotton.senate.gov. Be sure to drop by my office and say hello if you ever visit our nation’s capital.

I need a pep talk. I'm terribly down about the Orange Idiot's immigration stance.

I live in NW Arkansas where we have an Hispanic population of around 18%. I think the University has 400 DACA students. I love shopping at the Hispanic super market and bakeries.

Today our temperature was around freezing until the afternoon when we began to get freezing rain. Yet at 11AM the Hispanic gentleman who has a small lawn business showed up with two others to manually remove two large brush piles from my property. I had talked to him at the end of January and he was keeping his promise to do the work.

We discovered his truck and trailer were too wide to get through my fence, so these guys spent 3 hours dragging limbs and brush across 300 feet of yard, over the fence, into the trailer. And it was cold!

I sat here and wondered about the white guy I had hired 3 years ago to remove the piles. He came, worked about and hour and quit. It was springtime.

These 'immigrants' are incredibly hard workers. They're honest and polite. This guy never sets the price for his work, but let's me suggest the payment. I want them here.

Anyway, it all makes me so sad. I'm so disappointed in my fellow Americans allowing Trump to throw people out based on their country of origin.

Best reply to Paul Ryan's tweet about the secretary's $1.50 raise.

Charles, a Koch brother in Wichita, said he was pleasantly surprised that his pay went up $26,923,076 a week... he said [that] will more than cover the cost of buying several more Paul Ryans. (link: https://twitter.com/PRyan/status/959831598412656640) twitter.com/PRyan/status/9…

Did I get this right? It's okay to unclassify a TOP SECRET document

for political purposes, but if an unclassified EMAIL is later classified, the receiptent should be locked up? (LOCK HER UP)

My sweet Hank is in the vet hospital this weekend. They believe

he had an attack of vestibular symptom. I thought he was having a stroke yesterday afternoon. This is fairly common in old dogs. Hank is 15. I lost his 'brother', Sugar, on Nov. 25, 2017.

I adopted my screen name, "Sinkingfeeling", when I joined DU back in 2003.

Now I know that feeling of unimageable damage to my country has come to be real. Today is proof positive that there is no hope. The Democratic Party can not hold off fascism when they are so willing to cave to false accusations without a fight. They can't stop the tax scam, dismantling of healthcare and Social Security, the packed courts, gerrymandering, nor racism and hate.

I'm done. I wrote emails to every Democratic senator that called for Sen. Franken to resign. I called and wrote the DNC. I'm now unsubscribing from all their emails, as well as from other progressive political organizations. No more contributions to any, including Common Cause, PFAW, Public Citizen, etc. No more signing dozens of petitions, no more protests, no more picketing GOP offices, no more trips to Washington DC marches.

I have ended my membership within the Democratic Party at the DNC, the state, and county levels.

I'm done. So now, after 15 years, I must say good bye to all my friends on DU. You have supported me through my cancer fight, my pets' deaths, and my sister's suicide. We've argued, laughed, and cried together. I'm sorry.
I will try my best to leave this country as soon as I can.

Good-bye DU.

Here's a Bible quote you'll never hear from the RW or GOP.

Isaiah 10 1-4

10 Woe to those who make unjust
laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, 2  to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless. 3  What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches? 4 Nothing will remain but to cringe among the captives or fall among the slain. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.

I returned from my trip to the Falklands, South Georgia, and Antarctica on Nov. 15th.
