Due to the fact that the institutions and mores of this society/culture

are wholly based in and on at least 2000 years of extreme continuous Judeo-Christian religion derived patriarchy, it is almost impossible for men to recognize the nuances of entitled superiority that are sometimes expressed by even the most enlightened, egalitarian men.

Women, particularly thoughtful intuitive women, as recipients of chronic, intentional and unintentional insults that result from a score or more centuries of enculturated, institutinalized male authority, dominance, and abuse, are naturally a great deal more sensitive to the numerous nuanced insults of our centuries of violently enforced submission which we have had to endure.

We have every good and valid reason to speak out for equality, and the fact that far too much of what we try to get across about nuanced, and sometimes blatant, manifestations of oppressive institutionalized patriarchy is dismissed by men rendered clueless about sexism as a result of centuries of unchallenged male dominion over females (ie - "because that's the way it is, and the way it has always , so I don't understand what in heck you women are complaining about") has a tendency to sometimes make us resentful.

Especially combined with the sad fact that until fairly recently on the historical scale, women were considered the legal property of their husbands, and less than 100 years ago men did not permit us to vote. This patriarchal mindset of the absolute inferiority of women did not disappear on the day we got the right to vote, and it will probably not disappear altogether for another century of hard core work by women trying to make the concept of essential gender equality understood and made an institutionalized reality.

"If you want to change the world, change yourself". Fine. I've changed myself into St. Zorra, pure hearted archangel of equality. What does that do for me, and other women, as far as the genuine end of patriarchy and the resulting genuine essential equality of women is concerned? If I/we don't open our mouths, we are never going to eat. Social change generally does not occur unless the oppressed speak out and take action to force the issue.

I know that I have a certain small lingering resentment toward men, exacerbated by occasional minor or major manifestations by men of their assumed entitled superiority and my imposed and unjustly designated inferiority that still lingers in in this waning patriarchy.

But this resentment is not hatred; I like both men and women, and try relate to each as individuals to the best of my ability, and I try to recognize the place that men come from. I do not live there, but I believe that I understand that, because men have historically been the culturally dominant gender, it is difficult for them to fully empathize with women in order to feel and understand how we really experience the manifested and non-manifested ramifications of past and present male dominance and entitlement. And, of course, there are still far too many ignorant men out there who believe that a woman's place is barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, (and not driving cars!) listening to them condescendingly read to us from their "rightful place" as men at the head of the dining table, in their well practiced authoritarian style, the dour and silly ancient passages of their Poisonwood Bibles and Korans, which prove to them beyond doubt the superiority of men, and proves once and for all that women are dimwitted inferior creatures not to be taken seriously in their man's world.

Because their unseen great all knowing bearded patriarch god in the sky has decreed that it is so, and this decree has been made obvious, and is manifested by all that has been created.

Or not.



Please try to understand, we women are still dealing with that type of ignorant shit on a mass scale, and it's not going to magically go away overnight.

So...I will continue to speak out and strive for an end to patriarchy, in the hope that someday, a balance between patriarchy and matriarchy will be achieved, where women will be equal, in all aspects of reality, to men, and hope that my efforts are not perceived as hatred by good men, and that these men will see my efforts not as gender warfare in a male vs. female construct, but as a sincere effort to attain genuine gender equality, and more understanding and equality for everyone.

that their religion gives them every reason and right to hate, and every reason and right to express their hate freely, in an attempt to injure innocent others who are different from them.

They also believe that their hatred, and expressions of hatred, are noble and justified, and should be immune from criticism.

This has been exacerbated by the continuous deliberate dumbing down of Americans that began during the Reagan era, and which we are still struggling against conservatives to overcome to this day.

Shows like Duck Dynasty are propaganda devices used to generate billions in profit for the unscrupulous, while at the same time keeping the sheep on the path. Duck Dynasty is a mind wipe.

Rural folks were a prime target, a gullible market, a ripe fruit just waiting to be picked, eaten, and stored by the Reagan/RW/Corporatist cabal that began deliberately destroying America back in the early 80's.

I grew up in the country and still live in the country, because I love nature and can't tolerate being separated from it for very long. I remember when AM hate radio first became prevalent during the early years of the Reagan administration. We couldn't get a whole lot of stations, so basically we were forced to either listen to stations that promoted RW hate, religion, or little else, listen to nothing at all. There was no XM/Sirius, and no internet, and we were pretty much out of range of progressive FM. This, naturally, increased peer pressure on everyone to become a hater. Especially kids; if you are smart, and different, in a rural classroom, you have a very difficult row to hoe until you are old enough to leave.

The targeted group in the OP has largely been "created". While I believe the author of the OP writes like a RW elitist exceptionalist who does not seem to be any more aware than the people who she is writing about, and who she has never really met in the flesh, she does have a partially valid point. But I saw firsthand the RW rural monster get assembled. I still see the monster every day, and it really is extreme RW, mean, ugly, and dangerous. It is a fanatically religious, ignorant, extreme RW, violent, brainwashed, gun worshiping, clueless, and very dangerous group of people.

True, it's really not cool to call any group of people trash. Real down home country people are some of the finest kind on the planet, some of the best people I've ever known. But it is stupid and destructive to deny the existence of the dangerous group. I see them fairly often. A few days ago I was told that Obama is creating a list for organ transplants, and this was preventing a relative of the person who told me this from getting medical care. I hear really deranged lies about Obama and Democrats all the time from this group of people. They simply do not have the background and awareness to separate bizarre superstitions and myths from reality in many cases. These poor folks are clearly living a very powerful delusion.

I'm openly LGBT, and this group frightens me. When RW christians say they don't judge people, and leave it up to God to judge, they are almost always lying; they use this lie as a device to mask their own hate and bigotry towards others from themselves. This self-deception why they can't understand why people call them hateful when they hate us for no reason.

And they are all republicans/tea party. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

Don't get me wrong; there are some common sense, aware, very kind country people who are/were smart enough to see through the manipulation. Unfortunately, however, most kids who are smart and aware enough not to yield to the constant conservative bullshit and peer pressure in rural areas take off for a far away college if they can swing it, or they just leave, and never come back, leaving a self-perpetuating and expanding cycle of rural ignorance and shallow, mean spirited RW superstitions behind them forever.

There's a reason why so many rural areas always vote republican, and I tried to explain some of the reasons why from a local POV, so please, don't shoot the messenger here.

Hopefully, someday we can counteract these deluded people who constantly vote against their own interests, and will be able to fund a massive national education effort broad and focused enough to wipe away much of this enforced ignorance from the face of our land.

Eliminating wealthy private interest RW ownership and control of an MSM used for profit and deliberate propaganda purposes would be another major step in eliminating ignorance and superstition in our country, especially in rural areas, as well.

Because we are a historically and presently stigmatized minority who are seeking the greatest degree of recognition possible as equal human beings, we have a tendency to celebrate and note our openly LGBT artists. It is a relatively new phenomenon that LGBT artists are widely accepted, so we might make a distinction and note it when artists are LGBT.

In the past, an LGBT artist coming out could be the kiss of death for their career, and this is changing, but is still an issue. It's actually a very personal issue for me.

It's why we may sometimes make an effort to note that an artist is LGBT.

Even though it should not make any difference if the artist is LGBT, str8, green, maroon, male, female, or unspecified.

And you get that.

Yes, it is a stone cold undeniable fact that people get sexually abused and raped, and the utmost serious attention needs to be paid to all allegations of sexual abuse. However, although most allegations of sexual misconduct are true, not every allegation of sexual misconduct is true.

When there is overwhelming evidence that false allegations of sexual abuse are clearly conjured up for malicious purposes in order to harm an innocent individual, these allegations must not be allowed to be used as a weapon. Making false, unprovable allegations of sexual misconduct is a quick and simple way to destroy an innocent person's life and credibility without having even a shred of evidence that the person actually did anything unethical or illegal.

Serious attention has been paid for years to the allegations against Julian Assange, and even a blind monkey can see that these allegations were brought against Julian in order to punish him for being a whistleblower against extremely powerful corporate/government entities.

Frivolous, false, allegations of sexual abuse that have no tangible evidence to back them up, and that are clearly used as weapons to harm innocent people, must not be allowed to be used as weapons.

This is the situation with Julian. It's not a matter of hero worship. It is a matter of not allowing the MIC to use its power to falsely imprison a whistleblower because they can, and because he exposed their immoral and unethical actions and intentions.

Ever wonder why Ecuador is willing to harbor Julian? It's because they are not part of the global MIC, and not playing along with its evil, anti-democratic game.

reality television culture/mind control devices are the most important events of the week in the lives of about one half of this nation's population, most of whom have been trained since birth to think and act against their own interests in many aspects of their lives, we will need to find a way to persuade them to go along with the necessary changes.

The sad fact is that the majority of Americans are irrevocably brainwashed by capitalist marketing (economic, religious, social, political, all of the above) of some form or another, and will not willingly give up their Big Macs, Cokes, Marlboros, big screens, and Dodge Rams even if it is indisputably clear that these things are definitely going to kill them, and everything else on the planet, and the planet itself, within 5 years of right now.

I believe the preservation of this planet will necessarily fall to a relatively small, extremely committed and dedicated, highly conscious collective of like minded, altruistic people, who are willing to take chances and make hard choices with a focused radical non-violent agenda. The only solution is world revolution, in so many areas of existence.
