how's your friday lookin?

in a pretty good spot today.
seems like most of my troubles will soon be behind me.
i sold some chickens yesterday, and have someone coming sunday for some. that’s most of that issue. happy for that.
and i have a tenant for 1 of my apts. the 1st flr is ready, but having a hard time renting is cuz it has a crummy lil kitchen. showed it to a family last night who liked it, except the kitchen.
i showed them the 2nd flr, which is still under construction but will have a wonderful kitchen. they wouldnt leave til i promised to let them rent it as soon as it was ready. i have a guy all lined up, should be here next week. so should have a rent check by end of this month.
AND i’m down to the last deets w selling my little house. gotta get the garage emptied out and then close on friday. buyers agent is a pita, but it’s all done but the scribbling.

i recall reading a while back that he’s made a deal for his catalogue, which made me happy, cuz it’s hard to find sheet music. there’s a big collection of the warner years, most of which i owned, back when we owned music.
but a bunch of live stuff. highly rec live in nashville 95. his ‘comeback’ after prison. w emmie lou harris, if you are a fan, which i’m not. but bill monroe, who i didnt realize he had worked. he comes in at the end of ‘angel is the devil’. a lil gem. sure wish there was a vid somewhere. then the do ‘the walls of time’

can u draw a bright line from their performative legislation to the real world consequences? the dead mothers and orphans that will necessarily pile up?

please joe, tell the world what is happening in that courtroom. cuz the ppl who need to hear it wont, unless someone w a big enough megaphone gets through to them. i think the single most important thing to get through to magats is- it’s all lies.

so, i found a cousin on myheritage, 3-5th, it said. i messaged her and turns out she was an adoptee looking for family. we rly clicked, peas in a pod. a couple of other family members went over there last year, and met her. a dear person.
i bugged her to do the ancestry dna, hoping for more info. she did, i did, guess what? ancestry says no.

she- can we still be cousins?
me- i piss off the irish born folks i meet by calling them cousin, so sure.

mistakes do happen.

some thought about jimmy carter and hospice.

i was a hospice volunteer for 5 yrs. my dog biff and visited an inpatient unit at rush hospital weekly. we got locked out in the plague, and my health has taken a beating of late and i havent been back.
i miss the work in general. but thinking about what is happening in plains right now gives me a deep pang.

death isnt always sad. sure, i sat w families of alcoholics and drug addicts in their 40’s, the saddest deaths, imho. and there are lonely deaths, when biff and i were rare visitors. and families where not everyone was ready to let go.

but sometimes, when a beloved elder passed, the place was a cloud of teary joy.
i remember 1 family in particular. a black family, losing their matriarch. the room was packed. they spilled out into the waiting area.
they had music on, an impressive buffet, and a full bar set up.
they wouldnt let me out of the room til i had a drink. they regaled me w stories of this lady. and the accomplishments of her kids, 1 of whom was a preacher, iirc.

it all comes down to- was the life well lived?
i cant imagine one lived better. so i know that love and tears are flowing in that little house right now. it is a great gift to have time to say goodbye.
it is a great gift to be alive until you arent.

i wish i thought my own passing will be half that sweet.

i got my appraisal! gave me what was offered.

we were rly nervous. or at least the agent was. it is a new high for the hood.
we were prepared w a list of all the stuff we did, and how much was spent. the appraiser was pleasant, and agreed that it was, on fact, an adorable house.

besides being pleased for myself, i’m taking this as an affirmation of the value of beauty. and of love. after all, the value is what a willing seller pays a willing buyer. if the buyer is willing to pay a little more for a place they fell in love w, there u go.

gave some modest credits for issues, real and imagined, but walking away w enough to right my ship.
should still close mid-march.

apparently they are convinced that there is proof the fbi instigated the violence and the proof is on the tapes. they also say he promised to ‘do something’ about the ‘political prisoners’, which he obvs is also not going to do.
