'I was in awe to see him': Bernie Sanders saved a woman from getting hit by a car while he was out

Old story but I hadn't ever seen it before:

By John Haltiwanger - Business Insider

'I was in awe to see him': Bernie Sanders saved a woman from getting hit by a car while he was out for a walk in DC, and she's very grateful

Amy Currotto was deep in thought as she headed to a guitar lesson on Capitol Hill on Wednesday and wasn't paying attention as she started to cross a busy intersection.

She was walking straight into oncoming traffic when Sen. Bernie Sanders stepped in and saved the day.

"Sen. Sanders was apparently behind me," Currotto told Business Insider. "He didn't grab me or anything," she said, but started shouting, "Ma'am! Ma'am!"

As she turned around, Currotto was so shocked to see that the panicked screams were emanating from the former presidential candidate that she froze like a deer in headlights.

"I did not immediately get off the street, even though there was a ton of oncoming traffic, because I was in awe to see him," she said. "He tried to continue to bring me onto the sidewalk and was like, 'Ma'am, you've got to get off of the street! You've got to get off of the street!'"

After a few more seconds of being in "complete awe," Currotto got back to safety thanks to Sanders.

Once she was back on the sidewalk, Currotto asked the Vermont senator if she could take a selfie with him, and he obliged. She said Sanders was quite "concerned" about her standing in the street and was "very, very kind."

Sesame Street Launches Arabic Show to Comfort Refugee Children Suffering From War

Wonderful!
?fit=1200%2C630&ssl=1

American educational children’s television series “Sesame Street” is trying to help refugee children suffering from war by airing on channels in the Middle East, including Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq, along with local channels and YouTube.

The 26-minute long episodes will explore emotions experienced by all kids, but particularly relevant to children dealing with the trauma of displacement and will offer coping skills for feelings like anger, fear, frustration, nervousness, and loneliness.

“One of the big gaps in humanitarian assistance for so long has been that only about 3 per cent of humanitarian aid goes to education, and of that, only a tiny fraction goes to early childhood education,” says Scott Cameron, the executive producer of the show.

“As a global community, we need to figure out ways to really create new models to help children in need in these crisis settings.”

Beach chairs, blankets and trash. Massive mess left after Trump's Wildwood rally.

The thousands of people who descended upon the Jersey Shore town for President Donald Trump's 'Keep America Great' rally at the Wildwoods Convention Center left behind a sea of trash in the parking lot — including their abandoned beach chairs and blankets — after the rally wrapped up.

Rally-goers were allowed to bring chairs as they waited in line — some for up to 48 hours before the event — but they weren't allowed to bring them inside the venue.

Factor in the blankets they used to stay warm, and all their drinks and food they were snacking on during the long wait in the parking lot and the convention center ends up with a parking lot full of trash to deal with Wednesday morning.

Evangelical Singer Calls Out Trump's Christian Supporters In Scathing New Song

An evangelical Christian musician is calling out his fellow members of the faith for their widespread support of President Donald Trump in a new song titled: “Hymn For The 81%.”

“This song might ruffle some feathers, but maybe some feathers need to be ruffled,” Daniel Deitrich told Religion News Service, adding:

The song’s title refers to the 81% of evangelicals who voted for Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Since then, they’ve remained one of his most consistent group of supporters despite the chasm between core biblical tenets and the president’s behavior and policies.

“Even after enacting deliberately cruel policies to rip families apart and put children in cages at the southern border, evangelical support is as fervent as ever,” Deitrich, who is listed as the pastor for arts and worship at South Bend City Church in Indiana, wrote on YouTube.

Here is the song:

Daniel Deitrich
In 2016, 81% of white evangelical Christians voted for Donald Trump after (among other things) hearing an audio recording of him bragging about sexually assaulting women.

Maya Angelou famously said, “when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

In the years since, even after enacting deliberately cruel policies to rip families apart and put children in cages at the southern border, evangelical support is as fervent as ever.

I was raised in the Evangelical world. It shaped me. I learned to take the words of Jesus seriously - love God, love your neighbor, feed the hungry, fight for justice for the oppressed. I thought that things like love, kindness, gentleness, and self-control MATTERED. I have been so confused and deeply saddened by the unflinching loyalty to a man who so clearly embodies the opposite of these values.

This song is a lament. It's a loving rebuke. It's a plea for the 81%, to come home to the way of Jesus.

LOL! When Trump supporters call themselves Sapiosexuals

An old HS acquaintance on Facebook posted a meme about her being a Sapiosexual and I about spit my soda out. This person literally ONLY dates racist redneck types and while I tend to avoid her page she mainly posts Trump idiocy and racist crap about his border wall etc. I am seriously at a loss at how out of touch these folks are. The dunning–kruger effect is really quite terrifying!

WASHINGTON — Sheriff’s deputies in Lake County, Fla., on Monday arrested a notorious tormentor of the parents of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, charging him with the unlawful possession of personal identification.

Wolfgang Halbig, a former contributor to Infowars, the online and radio show hosted by the far-right provocateur Alex Jones, has spread false claims for years that the Dec. 14, 2012, shooting of 20 first graders and six educators in Newtown, Conn., was an elaborate government hoax aimed at confiscating Americans’ firearms. When challenged or confronted by Sandy Hook families, Mr. Halbig has released their personal information, taunted them or emailed them photographs of what he claimed were their dead children “all grown up.”

Mr. Halbig, of Sorrento, Fla., was arrested after a complaint filed by Leonard Pozner, whose son Noah, 6, died in the shooting. The arrest affidavit said that Mr. Halbig repeatedly emailed Mr. Pozner’s Social Security number, date of birth and other information to a long list of recipients, including “multiple different law enforcement agencies and news stations.”
