He knows it all: he's been told what to expect and what he is expected to do, otherwise they will destroy him professionally and personally. They must REALLY have the goods on him: video, audio, witnesses. I have an idea what this is all about but it is taboo to mention it in mainstream conversation, but you know what I'm talking about.
