Holy crap...this is a BFD...until it "isn't "...

https://www.inquirer.com/politics/nation/trump-deutsche-bank-probe-fbi-informant-dead-valentin-broeksmit-20220428.html

LOS ANGELES — Valentin Broeksmit, an informant who worked with federal authorities investigating former President Donald Trump’s relationship with the German financial giant Deutsche Bank, was found dead Monday on a high school campus in the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Broeksmit, 46, was reported missing by friends and family a year ago, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was last seen driving a red 2020 Mini Cooper on April 6, 2021, on Riverside Drive at Griffith Park. His car was found, but Broeksmit remained missing — until Monday, when the L.A. County coroner’s office identified his body.
Cleaning crews at Woodrow Wilson High School found Broeksmit’s body just before 7 a.m., according to Sgt. Rudy Perez with the Los Angeles School Police Department.
Perez said classes resumed while investigators isolated the scene.

Hmmm. Did anyone else just see that Hallie Jackson interview?

I was a bit taken aback, and perhaps I read this wrong but it went something like this as far as I could see: on her show her guest was the father of a prisoner still held in Russia and not released today. She must have asked him 10 times if he was satisfied with how President Biden was handling the situation, given that others were released but not his son. He stated 10 times that he knew the President Biden was doing the best he could do, and that it’s a very difficult road and it was perhaps because the Russians asked too much in return. Undaunted, Ms. Jackson stated that he, the father, had requested a meeting with President Biden and had been told no, not at this time and how did he feel about that? He replied that the President is a busy man, trying to manage a war in Europe, and also all the other issues with face the chief executive of a very large country. She kept using words and phrases such as: are you disappointed, are you upset, and the like, and I will say for his part the gentleman gave every benefit of every doubt to President Biden. She seemed incredibly disappointed and I suppose wanted the father to get excited and rail against the administration, but that did not happen.

I was a little surprised that after the first couple questions asked in a negative fashion that she persisted. I don’t see this as hard questions, I see this as an attempted shock journalism such that she could get a sound byte of this father disparaging the President and with that, the country and the Administration . If anyone else saw this, do they have any thoughts, I would be most interested.

Marshall Law, Martial Plan, Marshall Arts, Martial Dillon...

When I was young, it was said that the sole member of Congress who was sufficiently educated enough to have been a functional member of the House of Lords in Britain, was Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a senator from New York . In those days, virtually all the senators and representatives who would speak on TV, no matter what their politics were, were more than semi-literate and most had a compelling style of speech. And the level of discourse, no matter how racist, misogynistic, and hateful, was at least presented in the English language in order that one could properly despise these individuals and understand precisely what they were espousing.

That being said, this asshole from Georgia, or wherever the fuck she was hatched, is a reminder of the school child who stopped paying attention in about the fifth grade and just got by on automatic promotion until graduating from high school. I will dispense with my usual obnoxious phraseology, for fear of being accused wrongly as a “poor excuse for a male“. However I will say that this is an example of just a dreadful human being who is ignorant, unschooled, and hideous both inside and out.

I've come to the conclusion

that the whole Trump-power-over-Republicans is a combination of blackmail and not-so-thinly-veiled threats to families.

For the first, there is virtually no one in public life who has not performed an act or behaved in a manner which would be detrimental to the career, marriage, or legacy. Quite frankly, I and everyone else I know would be susceptible if enough research were executed and if someone or someone’s would actually care if it were exposed.

As far as the second goes it might be something like: you sure have a beautiful/handsome daughter/son there and you won’t be around forever to protect her/him from…who knows what? Or: a lot of those roads where your wife/husband/kid routinely drives have dangerous spots. Lots of accidents….

You really think that this would be beneath them? The Russians claim the two, count ’em two oligarchs shot their families and killer themselves. Yeah. Sure. That’s what billionaires do….like, say, Jeffrey Epstein.

I will end with the fact that after watching Mission:Impossible, The Bourne Films, Tom Clancy books and derivative films, and even Columbo(!) and all those sinister tv shows, most of America does not believe that plots and conspiracies actually exist. It’s all about “lone nuts”. Cognitive Dissonance, man…Cognitive Dissonance.

There's an old dental school joke:

During the AIDS crisis, when glove wearing became the norm, there were individuals who began to protest excessive sterilization procedures for instruments and handpieces which the patient’s mouth. In addition to these requirements, it was obvious to anyone who knew anything about anything that the dental burs which are used, (those grinding instruments made of steel or Carborundum) needed to be sterilized as well. The problem with sterilizing them, at least in those days, was that it would dull them instantly and render them useless for multiple procedures for which they were originally intended.

So of course there was resistance to this because of the expense, and one humorist posited that you could make the case that any microorganism which could survive when pressed against enamel, the hardest material in the human body, at a rate of 500,000 revolutions per minute probably has more of a right to live than the human does. This of course was meant to be funny.

My rhetorical question now is do we humans actually have the right to survive? I mean what have we done to the planet, the environment, each other, other countries, other races, other religions, and quite frankly every other you can imagine? Perhaps it would just be better for us to call it quits and leave all this to the cockroaches.

I need to get back to work, dig some holes, and fill them….

Democrats need a line/retort/insult crafted to put these bastards back on their heels.

It would have to be succinct, sharp and barbed, clever, with a tiny bit of wit. My thinking is a better version of “where is the beef?” But somewhat PG rated. No foul language but it needs something to make people stop in their tracks for just an instant. There are sufficiently creative gag writers and Joe writers out there who could come up with something, but they would have to work on it.

As an aside, having a little to do with this, my personal favorite wine in any movie which was intended to disarm, was George Clooney in the film The Descendants, wherein he confronts the man who was having an affair with Clooney’s now-comatose wife, starts talking to him and in the middle of his “warming up” says rather matter of factly: “By the way, Fuck you.” I’ve used that on numerous occasions and it is a show stopper.

Of course, my other favorite joke in this regard what is the one about the guy who shows up for work and his coworker says you look like hell, what’s the matter? The first guy replies that he had a terrible time with his wife that morning. A coworker asks what happened and the guy says that he made a terrible Freudian slip at breakfast. The coworker asks what did you say? The guy says well I meant to say “please pass the sugar”. The other guy asks for what did you say? The guy replies, I said “you ruined my life you fucking bitch”.

I’m here til Wednesday…try the veal….

So-called Senator Hawley wants to play that game?

Blocking “everything”? Well, you don’t just stand around and tut tut and complain…

I guarantee you, I positively guarantee you that this guy has a trail of personal shit behind him the likes of which you can’t even imagine. This creepy sociopath has probably horribly wronged more women, lost more bets, and created problems for himself and his family than you can imagine. It’s time to out him seriously, find out who he’s been messing around with and destroy him personally. You know, Gary Hart did it to himself, but these guys can use an assist. I am sick and tired, as I stated in previous posts recently, of these miscreants threatening the process and all we can do is complain bitterly. I say some sleuthing needs to be done, and some exposition. There are people who know how to do this, and they should be employed.

Ratfucking is not limited to one ideology now, is it? The Democratic Establishment needs to get off of its ass and take care of business. You don’t have to be Sammy “The Bull” Gravano to mete out a just punishment for being a creep.

I do not believe that I ever related this story on DU:

This is a true story and the dialogue is only slightly paraphrased. It was one of the most memorable moments in my career, listening to people vent, sometimes very significant people vent…

Some of you folks who have been around here a long time might recall that at one time I was treating the aristocracy of the Democratic fundraisers here in Philadelphia. Several of these people had literally been venerated as having gotten Jimmy Carter elected president in 1976, and were extremely influential and powerful in the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania political scene. For three of these people whom I treated, their reach extended into the White House when President Clinton was living there, and they had his personal cell number.

One day, one of the gentlemen was sitting in my chair and he told me that his buddy, a former Frank Rizzo senior advisor and aide, was going to run for mayor of Philadelphia. He told me that this was the last chance that white people would be able to run the city, since we were being “overrun“ by, and I use the polite phrase rather than that which he uttered , people of color. Fairly stunned, I sat there neither nodding nor shaking my head in some form of disbelief that he would actually verbalize this. He was adamant that this was the last chance that “we” would have to get what we could get before the “end times“ of politics here in Philadelphia.

The gentleman to whom he was referring happened to live not far from me in the suburbs, so I asked him how was he going to claim to be a resident of Philadelphia when everyone, and I mean everyone, knows full well that he lives outside the city? The fundraiser replied that that was all taken care of and his son’s condominium would suffice as legal residence for purposes of the election. Of course, it was virtually immediately disclosed that he did not live in the city and a suit or petition was filed with the courts to prevent him from being on the ballot. To make a long story short I suppose they got to the judge, and the judge ruled that he could be a candidate for mayor and that this other candidate who brought the suit was not able to convince the court that all this was true, factual , or relevant to the notion of residency. Don’t ask. It’s how things worked here for years, and may still…

The fundraiser came back to my office for some further work, and I mentioned to him that his court battle was won and things I suppose, could proceed. He told me that he hired a very prominent Philadelphia attorney to go after the candidate who had done this to his candidate, and that she was going to pay for this. I mentioned to him casually that the female candidate, although of Iowan WASP extraction, had an an Hispanic last name and most Philadelphians assumed that she was Hispanic although it was actually her husband who was. I further mentioned that I thought this would become a problem within the minority community and there might be some backlash. He waved me off and basically called me incompetent and alluded to the fact that possibly my dentistry was not up to par because my politics and political knowledge certainly weren’t.

Well, the instant it came out in the news that the candidate was suing the accusing candidate, his poll numbers plummeted and he disappeared off the scene. This guy I could tell 50 stories about, but won’t because it’s unseemly and this is neither the time nor the place.

The point I am making here Albeit circuitously, is it I think that the republican party is doing the same: that they feel that the minority population is increasing at such a rate that in a reasonable time, they will be the minority party by far and will have no shot of power outside of certain geographic regions within certain states. They are trying to grab all they can, and ruin the system so that this process occurs more slowly, but it will occur. The question I have is can we prevent the country from becoming totalitarian or are we going to enter some very strange existence, a 21st century South Africa perhaps? Time of course will tell, but I thought this analogous story might have some relevance to today’s situation. I thank you for your time and patience.
