LetMyPeopleVote's JournalTexas Partisan Redistricting-Court Filing
Here is the e-mail that I received today from one of these attorneys in the Texas Redistricting case.
I wanted to make you aware of the filing we made today in the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of the Texas Democratic Party, attached. You will note from the brief that Texas voters suffer under one of the worst partisan gerrymanders in the country.
The Supreme Court is currently considering the Whitford v. Gil case from Wisconsin. Based on the oral arguments in that case, which I witnessed, there seems to be a decent chance that the Court will start to reign in this practice which, unfortunately, both parties use to harm voting rights. The filing we made in Texas will allow our state to seek reform of political boundaries in Texas in the event Whitford comes out in our favor.
As always, thank you for your support.
Regards,
Chad Dunn
The court in that case rejected all claims based on partisan gerrymandering and the court ruled that there was cases of racial gerrymandering. This filing is to take advantage of any ruling in the Wisconsin case.

Sam Clovis withdraws from consideration for Agriculture post after his name surfaced in Russia probe
Source: Washington Post
The nomination of Sam Clovis to be the Agriculture Departments chief scientist was controversial both because of questions about his lack of relevant experience and news this week that he was one of the top officials on the Trump campaign aware of efforts by foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos to broker a relationship between the campaign and Russian officials.
Clovis, who now serves as the departments senior White House adviser, informed President Trump of his decision in a letter dated Nov. 1.
The political climate inside Washington has made it impossible for me to receive balanced and fair consideration for this position, Clovis wrote in the letter. The relentless assaults on you and your team seem to be a blood sport that only increases in intensity each day. As I am focused on your success and the success of this Administration, I do not want to be a distraction or negative influence, particularly with so much important work left to do for the American people.
Clovis was tentatively slated to have a hearing before the Senate Agriculture Committee on Nov. 9.
