About Me

I've been a female working a "man's job" (mechanical engineer), stay at home Mom (6 kids), working Mom (6 kids to put through college), unemployed, underemployed, temporarily employed and now working from home! We live on an old, small farm with 2 dogs and 2 cats in the house, variable number of chickens out in the yard.

The Vegiducken:

Say what you will about Big Pharm - but I love my Advair.

Breathing - it's a good thing!

Arggg! My health insurance changes from a co-pay to a deductible plan next year,

which is fine, there's an HSA that is partially company funded that goes along with this. The problem is that someone hit the wrong button on a computer somewhere and I've been placed on a deductible system now! As a result, some of my scripts cost over $100! It's a race between running out and getting someone to fix this!

So, this is strange ......

New Process gear was a major employer for many. many years in Syracuse. The plant made parts for various automakers.

So the plant was just sold for $2.45 million to ONX1, LLC.

Onx1 LLC

This is the only info I can find on ONX1, LLC:

Application for Authority filed with the Secretary of State of NY (SSNY) on 10/22/2012. Office location: Onondaga County. SSNY has been designated as agent upon whom process against it may be served. The Post Office address to which the SSNY shall mail a copy of any process against the LLC served upon him is Onx1 LLC, 2430 Marathon Ln, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. Purpose of LLC: To engage in any lawful act or activity.

If you look up the address on GoogleEarth, it's a split level in Fort Lauderdale.

Thanksgiving memories:

There was the time I pulled out the neck and the giblets, but didn't realize that another pack of giblets had been placed in the other end until we were carving the bird.

Then there was the young just married woman who told me how she and her husband tried to get the giblets out without touching them - they were too squeemish!

Holiday shopping - what works for my family -

When the kids were little, they left a letter out for St. Nicholas on December 5, and got treats in their shoes Dec. 6.

Now that they're big, we've started a tradition of round robin e-mails to let each other know things we might like or need, sizes, etc.

It takes a lot of stress out when you know the kind of thing someone likes and don't have to guess. It helps a lot when shopping for the students to get them something they really need.

The other important part of this is that we keep the price of the gifts very, very reasonable - the price of a book or CD. This also takes away a lot of stress!

A question about cell phones, e-mail, etc:

Ever since e-mail came along, we've been exposed to a certain amount of grandiosity from certain parties. (Just go back and take a look at the e-mails Ollie North sent out about his activities to Fawn Hall). The addition of the cell phone allowed many men to take photos of themselves and send them to potential paramours. To be fair, there are also many women sending out improper photos of themselves!

So the question is, has the introduction of electronics made some people more stupid, or just let the rest of us know of the fools amongst us?

With all due respect to the fine people who serve our country,

but how many people can name the ambassador who was killed at Benghazi without looking it up? How many people know how many Americans were killed there?

Man caves - i need gift ideas for furnishing a mancave for about $30.

What is the best gift for the new cooks and bakers on your list?

I'm thinking in the range of $30 +/-
