Hey GOP - if you're going to set the generations against one another, as a long term plan it's

better to get the younger generation on your side!

GOP's plan for Medicare: us old folks got ours, screw all you young'uns!

About those Medicare vouchers - why would insurance companies

lower prices to compete for Medicare recipients who use more medical services, when the insurance companies don't cut rates when competing to cover healthy young adults?

I need help tracking something down on Ryan -

this is serious - I don't want to start or spread any rumors, because that would backfire. But I swear I read he voted the wrong way on an animal cruelty bill - puppy mills, banning cock fighting, horse slaughter, something like that. I've tried googling it, but I'm getting no hits. Since I routinely conflate Paul Ryan/Ron Paul/Rand Paul, I could well be barking up the wrong tree.

When This Oil Spills, It's 'A Whole New Monster'

"TransCanada told Daniel in writing that questions about spills were hypothetical because their pipeline would be designed not to spill. But in a document for the State Department, TransCanada predicted two spills every 10 years over the entire length of its Keystone XL pipeline, from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Some scientists argue that the company underestimates that risk. Another pipeline it put into service two years ago has had 14 spills in the United States, although most were small, according to TransCanada."

The article would seem to indicate that it is a slurry of sand and crude going through those pipelines. My question is, how abrasive is that sand? Does anyone know? Do the oil companies care?

I've been a little puzzled at how quick the bishops were to slap down Paul Ryan's budget,

but then it occurred to me that some of that money goes to programs run by the bishops!

Already planning for next year - anybody know about coleus?

I have a bed out front that is in deep shade. Hostas do fine there. Will coleus tolerate deep shade?

There are certain advertising characters who I have long thought to be gay -

the Brawny Man, Mr. Clean and Mr. Peanut.

It's very heartening for me to see Mr. Peanut referred to in a new ad as one of the most manly peanuts:

and shown going about such manly pursuits as blowing shit up!

" people who got Medicaid coverage were less likely to die than people who didn't."

You'd think this'd be pretty obvious, but someone had to put together a study to prove it, because

"Republicans on Capitol Hill counter that Medicaid doesn't work very well."

You're stuck in a room for a while -

which option do you choose to amuse yourself.

What was that spot on Ryan's flag pin on 60 minutes?

It looked like some sort of membership badge printed over the flag.
